You have to work for SE, cause you seem to know how & why they do EVERYTHING.

There could be a number of reasons they are doing maintenance on their forums, since they did not list anything specific you are not able to state that they will not be implementing new features. Since a website/forum is developed offline, they could do anything they wanted at anytime & just drop the forum servers down to upload the new files & make sure everything is running smoothly.


I would like to see some new changes to the forums, since they have only been up 2 weeks it is safe to say that these forums are still in beta testing. Now that they see what kinds of things people talk about, what they would like to see changed & features that are missing, they could very well be implementing a lot of things.
