While it might help some, it would only create more segregation between the players, after all, some people are racist to others in this game. I have seen some people who would not invite JP players even though they spoke fairly good English, or at least understood a good amount. At the same time, I have met some people who can read some Japanese, these people often get turned down because while they can read it, they can not write it, which puts them in a position of being unable to join. Right now, its possible to blend in with others, and avoid this problem, but if you specifically label everyone by their country for all to see, this becomes impossible, and there is no way to avoid the potential racism that could, and likely would, ensue.

All in all, while it would be a feature that would help understand who exactly you are communicating with, and possibly help out a bit when talking to others, it would label people as well, and probably create some problems among players, so I have to say no to this one, I rather keep it how it is.

That's odd, I've never been turned down by Japanese players for not being able to read but can write out things in English.

I've also managed to do perfectly fine with the auto translate function.

Only time I've ever been declined an invite by JP party was if the leader is the type who has no patience to communicate with a team mate who cannot be understood. Lets face the reality this does not mean only JP players do it.

If you are leading a party, I'm sure as a leader, you wouldn't want to command a party if you cannot communicate the plan with those who cannot speak the same language as you. This has nothing to do with racism. That's communication.

Some people are racist, but we are living in 2013, not back in the 20's,30''s,40's,50's,60's,70's,80's era. I'm sure most of us in this generation are beyond that now, and everyone who is currently playing FFXI know already they are playing with a mixed community. A True racist wouldn't even be here if that's the case.

I think it would also help those wanting to make friends in different cultures if we knew what part of the world you are from. Would save the question being asked in every single conversation "What time zone are you in"

But again that's just my take on it.
