    So here is my suggestion

idk if SE is purposely tanking the game or not, and I make no such claims. But the majority of the game has been rendered irrelevant by the introduction of abyssea and now Adoulin and it really doesn't seem this game has much steam left in it unless the devs make an amazing turn around and basically relaunch the game. So here is my idea for a relaunch with comparatively minimal work.

Launch a version of ffxi that is offline and single player. You can control a pt of 6 chars that are possibly interchangeable much like any other ff title, and only take it up to the point of the 3 mini expansions and lvl cap of 75. Graphics can stay the same, music can stay as it is, yada yada yada idc. But I would, as many many ppl I know, buy it in a heartbeat.

A few adjustments would have to be made, mythic and relic requirements for instance, exp gain rates, battles would have to be set for 6 manning, as would zones such as dyna, jp midnight and spawn timers requirements reworked or removed, etc etc etc. And lets not forget the UI. Keep it a challenge but make it doable.

This would reduce the need to maintain servers, you could pay your staff for a final kaboom and likely make a decent coin of it and if you want to release new content you can do it via dlc.

I love ffxi and would like to be able to pick it up and play in 10 years much like I currently do ff1, ff4, ff6 and so on.

Let ffxiv be your mmo mainstay if that's what you wish but please don't make us loose Vana'diel

    Thoughts? Ideas? Flames? Love?

If they did this, I'd be in line to buy a copy just to be able to run to Jeuno all over again, make it where I can play this game and just have fun kicking back and relaxing to play the game how I want to play it. I would seriously buy this.

I like the idea of it, however I would not just discount Abyssea and so on that pushed past 75. I would say have the primary game be up to 75 such as you described however Abyssea & so on can be kept in as a kinda super area, where they would need to bump the difficulty level and such to a very high level so that it becomes a sort of super dungion. After that has been beaten you have VW, which would be basically super bosses.

I like the idea as a whole, but I think just removing the last few years of the game to keep it at 75 would be bad. I would want that stuff included, just as a much harder part of the game, same with Adoulin, where Adoulin could be the hardest thing in the game, making the challenge very difficult, then the actual rewards would be much less overpowered, because like many games once you hit that point where you have the best things, you often have little left to use it in, such is the case FFXI somewhat experiences today.

Personally i think they should just sell off home server programs where you can open a program and say i want this game at 75 cap, with these zones open and these ones closed, and i want to give players 250% exp and power them up by 100% to even out balance. Also would allow you to control a GM character through the program incase anything happens..... Like you didn't get that drop you wanted ~.O

For mine i would leave everything open and just have fun with a small group of friends on my own server.

I would easly pay for this kind of program from SE, Even if it was over $100.

The game changed a lot , I miss a lot of things in the past.

I agree with you, I can't leave the game even if FFXIV come to PS3.

In the old days you hardly got a special gear not like now everything's is easy to got and a lot of people have the same gears!

OMG I miss the old parties /cry.

I just hate to see this game go kaput. I mean I know it wont for awhile but these new updates are just going to accelerate its demise. Idk why they cannot have two mmos if they are both profitable and xi, with all its quirks was a wonderful game. I just hate to think that after 7 years a day is coming up soon where won't be able to walk through the streets of sandy, get annoyed that I have to visit winderp, farm up a piece of gear from that challenging nm, enjoy the view from the airships, etc.

ffxi is a fantastic game and I would love to see it live on after the servers go down. With minor tweaks it would be a decent single player game too. As long as I can set the lvl cap at 75 and maybe have the option to retain lvl syncs in certain zones/missions, so the game retains its challenge I would be a happy man.

I wouldn't play the offline version personally because I've got friends in Vana that I partied with since 04, and logging in to chat with them while adventuring is part of why I love FFxi. I played a lot of single person offline games with multiple char pts, they were fun but to me they are not as enjoyable as partying with real people online, if you like and respect those people. They play in their own style and can think up ideas that hadn't occured to me. Also I don't think FFxi the core game is failing at all, just some of the stuff they hammered onto the outside of the core game such as rieve/delve failed on a mega-scale, and Aby while it has some good battlefields & mobs, the 60-lvl gap between xp pt members needs scrapping and returned to a more normal 'let's try to keep the levels of our party members close' kind of deal for levelling. SE also should add stuff to old areas to get new players to explore the core game more.
