FFXI/Playonline Extreme FPS Issues (Less than 1fps!)

Just installed FFXI/Playonline on a new laptop, Asus G75VW. I am getting around .5-1 frames per sec when on FFXI itself after Playonline loads and it seems like the connection is extremely slow as well. I am unsure why as I get over 30mb/s on a speed test and runs great with any game I've thrown at it including Guild Wars 2. Both the Playonline and FFXI lag the entire computer system down as well. (yes, everything else is at 1fps!)

I bought the game through Gamestop: Abyssia version. Worked fine on another Asus laptop of mine, which was about 1 year older (same download). The other PC used Vista and only 2 core instead of an emulated i7.

Playonline loads fine, FFXI loads fine, it's just extremely slow. There was never any crashing involved. Updating from Abyssia took about 8 hours for Playonline and 15+ for FFXI to update.

Ok, so this is the list of what I have tried. I have been researching forums for hours, so the list may be a bit extensive.

• Updated video card drivers
• Updated DX11 (and installed past versions)
• Ran Playonline through windower (this is interesting as it made the computer *not* lag, but the POL still lagged badly)
• Ran Playonline as Administrator
• Ran Playonline in compatability mode for Windows 7, Vista, XP (SP1 & 2)
• Checked router ports (have UPnP)
• Install/Reinstall
• Using Vista/Windows 7 Playonline
• Checked for spyware/viruses
• Set FFXI/Playonline to use only 1 cpu core out of the 8
• Set FFXI/Playonline to have High priorty
• Changed around resolution settings in the FFXI config
• Turned off Windows 7 User Accounts (UAC)
• Disabled Desktop composition (pol.exe Properties)
• Disabled visual themes (pol.exe Properties)

I'm running out of options and getting a bit frustrated, but I really want to get this fixed! I am pretty computer savvy so feel free to get technical if you like.

I plugged it in directly to the modem and everything worked correctly. Guess I need to configure the router somehow. Any suggestions? As I noted above, it is UPnP friendly.
