Moderators, please put a stop to apocalyptic prophecy threads.

I'm sick of all the "FFXI is coming to an end" threads that are based on that individual's feelings towards the game/developer, rather than economic sense.

Furthermore, it benefits NO ONE, especially not Square-Enix, to have apocalyptic prophets spamming the official forum with their doomsday theories for FFXI.

Please delete or lock those threads.

Edit: I believe that threads that are intentional magnets for apocalyptic prophets should be deleted as well (e.g. threads about the uncertainty of the "future" of the game, threads about losing interest, or threads about the game or developers "failing").

    Examples of apocalyptic cesspools:

So your personal opinion, based on your individual feelings towards the game/developer, which doesn't benefit anyone, is more important than theirs?

Did FFXI or it's developers benefit off your post? No?

The little triangle in the bottom left-hand corner of all posts lets you report that post to moderators when a post violates the Forum Guidelines. Posts that violate the guidelines include (emphasis mine):

Posting seeking to damage or disparage Square Enix, the forum, FINAL FANTASY XI, or others.
Now go forth armed with your new knowledge.

Nothing in the above post is intended to disparage Square Enix or FINAL FANTASY XI, or to criticize Square Enix staff; such behavior would be a violation of the FINAL FANTASY XI User Agreement. Any such violations of the FINAL FANTASY XI User Agreement should be reported to Square Enix immediately, by using the "Report Post" icon in the bottom-left of forum posts.

If only they moderate more, no action is usually taken even if its reported unless it is a major violation.
Now if they moderate like their Japanese counterparts, tons of threads and posts would vanish.

People have a right to discuss their opinions, even if you don't agree with them. I don't care for the doomsdayers myself, but they have just as much right to express themselves as you and I do on these forums.

If we were to censor all these posts and pretend like nothing was wrong with XI, that would probably be the most detrimental thing ever. Let them know there's problems with the game, let them know that there's a good possibility a bunch of people might jump ship. Don't sweep it under the rug just because you can't handle it.

The only people with any "right" on these forums is Square-Enix themselves. Their forum, their rules.

That would be S-E's problem, and whether or not they want to address that problem, and how, is their prerogative.

100% agree, while obviously its not a rule everywhere or always applicable to the situation, one great thing to have is freedom of speech, take that away, and this forum loses its meaning, which is feedback. If SE cant handle negative feedback on their own forums then that's pathetic, and turns this into nothing but a temple to worship their great work, if you dare speak of bad things though, you shall be banished heretic!

So you think its right that they should just come in and delete anything we say? If its truly abusive and pointless, that's one thing, if its got facts and points to help its overall statement, then it needs to stay.

That's really not true, it seems without people reporting things they have no problems with most things, but once people report it, well, then people have a problem, not necessary SE. Who's to say they don't remove posts because they think it is disrupting others, rather than disrupting SE themselves?
