Is it weird...

That the entire time I've played as a Blue Mage, the entire time that I've worked on it. There's but one sword that I always wanted to get back.

I don't know why I have such an attraction to this piece, is it because it resembles my newly acquired Tyrfing? Or because it was earned through hard work (Killing Odin which I did with a bunch of friends back in 2009...ok maybe I watched and acted as a person who would keep the 10,000 damage move mitigated by throwing another body at it.)

My question again is: Despite it being horribly outdated, being literally worthless compared to a weapon of the current caliber. Is it wrong that I want to keep spending so much time just to get it back in my inventory?

A lot of people feel nostalgia for the old gear; that it was somehow harder to obtain.

I don't disagree. I've certain pieces that will remain muled or stored until SE shuts off the servers or makes them useful again.

But what I mean, is that is it weird that I'm trying so hard to get it back? I got hacked back in 2009, yet I tried to get my stuff recovered yet nothing happened. (Originally I was from Leviathan, I worked with a few friends, one being Papermage.) Is it really right that if you get your account hacked you're basically up the creek without a paddle? I never saw anything back from when someone got a hold of my account. (I didn't lose much besides Hofud and a few other things, I guess the sentimental value makes it that much more weird.)

It's not so-different for you to want to get it back. You're not trying because it's ez now. It's like the people that towngear'd in usukane/ares/etc last year. Most of them got it last year, and yeah you can't tell the difference between a person who got it today and a person who got it in 2009, but the person knows.

If I accidentally lost my old haidate, I'd probably go kill that cat again.

When I first came back, a friend was helping me, and he synergized my haidate and at the end of one round he said "oh fu~..." and I thought he'd lost it. The idea of losing those silly old shorts made me instantly a little bit sick. Of course, I found out that they weren't in any danger, and it was some irl phonecall he missed that made him say it, but still.

Its not wierd, kitty pants, O-hat, swift belt still mean a lot even though I have much better gear. Even my Hagun or Soboro are on my mule...can't part with them. Thought about leveling my mule just so he can wear them. But we worked to get them, I would replace them if I lost them. Can't forget my Walmart Turban....these things were like a right of passage.

I still have my turban, my Osode, and I just recently passed my Nanatsuyaya to one of my friends who I thought would like to use it instead of it collecting dust in my mog house. I'm not saying that it'd fix anything, but I wish I just had that Hofud back, with the others I could easily have farmed it, but we're talking a whole Odin run, and even then I might not ever get it back >.<
