I was just wondering if FFXI will be out a while after FFXIV is re released? my Girlfriend and I just came back to XI and would like to play both for a while after XIV is released.

Seeing as they just released another expansion for the game only 2 months ago, I think its safe to say the game will be around a bit longer.
More to the point this game is all that is keeping them afloat ATM since ffxiv tanked . Weird that they don't upgrade our graphics and watnot.
My vision on what has happened regarding FFXI and FFXIV:
FFXIV was designed to be different, but relatable to players of FFXI (you can see this by SE using the same races etc.)
Unfortunately, FFXIV was generally terrible for a number of reasons, one of my personal gripes being that the world had about as much character as a slice of bread.
Having invested so heavily in both FFXIV and FFXIV:ARR, they've conformed more to the generic western MMO style because they cannot afford to fail again with FFXIV:ARR, and they can at least snag a bit of cash from FF fans like us, aswell as from MMO fans who like generic MMO's.
Unfortunately, fans of generic MMO's hop from one game to the next every few months, and the FF fans like us will play for a few months, see the game is terrible generic trash, and come back to FFXI.
So I personally don't see there being any risk to FFXI really.
thanks for the reply, kinda late I know.
