Error code 4002 and 5012...combination modem/router help

Ok, so to start off my connection is through DSL and is connected by a westtell 7500 router/modem combination...now as to if i had a modem plugged into a router i would have just bypassed the router....and there in lies my problem....on the westtell information screen,and on the port forwarding screen it does not have seperate lines for tcp and udp ports to be fowarded... i was able to play on both PC and 360 at my brother house but when im at home i get booted 5 mins into log in...my connection will support GW2, diablo 3, and multiple websites up at the same time so i know its not my connection...but if anyone has any information on how to do the port fowarding on a westell combination modem/router id greatly appreciate it...(sorry im not more tech savy)

You should just use the modem router and bridge your connection to an open source router that supports DDWRT or Tomato. The software on the modem isn't fully functional. The open source software when put on consumer grade routers make them better then some higher end routers.Take a look at this www.linksysinfo.org forum. It might not be your end that has the problem but somewhere between you and the SE servers.

It sounds like the packets are dropping on your end or the port is timing itself out. For Final Fantasy most routers don't need forwarding if they have stateful packet inspection. Pay close attention to the last paragraph on this link. It's saying that with a modern router the software opens up incoming ports to forward in most default setups.The only time this really becomes an issue is when the connection is peer-to-peer where both sides are behind a strict firewall.
