    This is true, I hadn't really thought of it like that. It's just that you'd figgure SE would have given us a viable alternative to skilling up divine aside from Dia, or would have removed Divine all together and moved Banish and Holy to Elemental.

    Yeah, I wish they would have, but moving all of the Divine magic to Elemental would never work, then WHM and PLD would have good Elemental magic, which would create problems with sub-jobs probably.

    Poison would not work because you only get skill ups when you land the spell, Dia is irresistible and deals damage on impact which is why it continues to give you skill ups at all time even when the effects are on the target, but Poison, Para, Slow, all would be ineffective for skilling up because without sticking it, you get no skill, and once it lands, it has to wear before you can stick it again.
