After hearing about how people are doing Delve, it all suddenly makes sense. I finally understand why SE has feared PLD for so long.

When enmity is cast aside, and DD actually hold back and short of any natural one shot spell like Death...

PLD is unkillable.

From what I've heard, Aegis/Ochain PLDs are eating up every bit of damage Delve NMs can dish out, and when they rage, SAM's are busting out SATA Kaitens.

PLD have come to the top once again and are actually the key facilitators of winning the new content.

So there you are SE. I admit it. I finally understand why we haven't had a decent job update since Reprisal.

I suppose it also helps that Relic/Empyrean Shields haven't been decimated by the new items update...

Actually isn't entirely true. Once a Delve NM rages (which, for the time being, will happen often), Ochain actually ends up taking a big hit to its normally nigh-infallible block rate, and you'll start getting eaten up like most other jobs would without some good -PDT gear and support at your side.

Aegis still works as expected for magic damage though, due to the different mechanics behind it (that is, shield blocks not being necessary)

Prior to the update before last, I used to say "PLD can do anything you want it to do but tank"

Joking aside, Yah, PLD is pretty unkillable, always has been, Just they werent useful as tanks cause they couldn't hold hate. Now on these new mobs, they're real useful cause they can hold hate, and since these NMs dish out damage and take next to none for the most part, Healers would be getting hate without a good tank.

That is, until we figure out more about them, But i can't imagine PLD will ever be 100% Fazed out with SoA... Could be wrong. But we'll see.

The point I was trying to make was that PLD is not the only job capable of wearing it, so once a NM rages, there isn't any inherent difference between having a PLD tank and having some other guy tank unless the PLD has Aegis or Burtgang
