I believe its the new XP system, and yeah, probably based on Reive participation. I'd kind of prefer if they gave us slotted gear and made actual materia we can level up a-la Final Fantasy VII. Like each one has 10 levels and EXP/LP/RP (these new points) level it up as you have it equipped.
Then they could make it where you could equip/unequip them to/from gear at your leisure. If everything had 3 slots, and there were 100's of options, like chopping up Atma, suddenly they'd have a lot more content for us to working on leveling and building.
I just don't know that this system will be nearly that interesting.
I was thinking that as well, but they make it sound like they have a couple of semi-rigid paths you go down, which kind of worries me because SE is historically incredibly bad at understanding that different jobs need different stats. (SMN, BST, and PUP, for example, need heavy Pet boost stands instead of personal stuff -- especially SMN -- and Geomancer would benefit from Pet +HP)Those seems like random augments to me, so you get random stats that you need to re-augments over and over, and do the activities over and over. If you hate RNG then you will hate this just the same. Almost 80% of the population (or more) won't be able to touch Delve for a good 6 months or even more, until they make more adjustment and make it accessible for general public. Right now, its "a beta" content, but presented as a "privilege" for those willing to test it and make reports so they can "adjust" it. Go at it if you have a chance, or just ignore SoA completely and pretend it does not exist, at least until a year when enough updates and tweaks are made, and you have contents that are adjusted. Everything else outside SoA don't really change much and your current gears are still good for those.
