Ok, so after a lengthy debate in my LS about augmenting Thief's Knife, raising the level, yet preventing dual wield, I came to one argument that says it could be done; Relics.

I remember seeing a few...opulent...players running around with Mandau/Baterdeau and Kikoku/Yoshimitsu back at 75 cap, so wouldn't we have seen one of these guys dualing 99/95 by now if it were possible?

What I know is that there are 7 different Mandau, we'll use that as an example.

Mandau - lv 75
Mandau - lv 80
Mandau - lv 85
Mandau - lv 90
Mandau - lv 95
Mandau - lv 99
Mandau - lv 99/Afterglow

My question here is despite the absurdity, is it possible to dual wield Mandau 99 and Mandau 95 or does the Rare/EX prevent this?

Since they have the same name and are tagged ra/ex, I'm pretty sure you can't. The quickest way to test something like this I would think would be doing a WS magian weapon. Those are also ra/ex. Build the first one (but not up to the +1 step) then try another. I think it will be prevented.

No it won't, but the game does not allow you to do two same trial simultaneously

Actually, Empy 90 and Empy 95 (For example) are considered different items. You can't have two of the same level, but I've seen people dual wielding Almace 99 and Almace 90 before.

That's why you trade them to finish the trial. It doesn't upgrade your item, it takes it away and gives you the better one. Not sure if can have two of a Relic or Mythic weapon -- but it would be interesting to see someone try. I think it is mostly the effort and money investment that keeps people from trying.

Gah, the person who dual wields Mythic 99 and Mythic 95 .... he'd be God amongst elitists.
