Geo Debuffs don't count toward Trials?

I've been working on my Apajamas II for awhile, and I wanted to speed things up since killing 1 monster at a time takes a lot longer then AoE Debuff and Aga-ing mobs down. So I broke down and dropped 600k on Indi-Malaise and Immediately went for the Geo version right after. I went into Abyssea - Misareaux (My Trial was for Lizards), threw up Indi-Malaise and proceeded to nuke one of the Dusk Lizards, and to my surprise (Not really), it did not count toward my trial. Indi-Malaise Lowers the foes Magic-Defense Bonus which is a Thunder based debuff (As Increasing Magic Defense is a water based Buff), the icon for the spell also shows it being Thunder, so is this a glitch? Or working as Intended? I am not on the killshot portions of any other Magic Accuracy Staff so I can't speak for the other spells but if anyone else can give some input on this I'd appreciate it.

geomancy != enfeebling magic. You also aren't directly applying an effect to the mob- It's the bubble that gives the status effect, not the spell cast itself.

The trial doesn't say it has to be enfeebling magic. Just <element> based status ailment, that's why things like shock work. It's probably "working as intended" just because, same way storms don't give weather effect for trials. That's disappointing though I was hoping to speed up a few trials that with that.

Difference is though, GEO spells aren't casted ON a target. You target yourself and things around you suffer the effect. I imagine that's the best comparative difference between Shock and a GEO spell that deals damage.

Somewhere in space... this could be happening right now.

They are still afflicted with a status ailment which is what the trial suggests needs to be done.

It's not the spell itself that inflicts the status ailment. Thus the status ailment is attributed to the Luopan, not to you. Also, GEO status effects are not the same as normal ones, even though they have the same icon.

This, as many have done in PvP testing, standing in the bubble gives you the enfeebled effect, no different then being shocked or Helixed, or Threnody. It should work, but again I'm sure it's working as intended, maybe they'll fix it, maybe not. Just a heads up to anyone else who wastes their money on those 700k Indi spells in the hopes they can do this as well.

It doesn't matter who inflicted the status ailment, if a party member used shock instead of me I would still receive credit. Additionally the OP stated (s)he used an indi spell so no luopan involved. Even the though the icon is different a status ailment is still being inflicted, it probably doesn't work just because SE doesn't want it to.

Perhaps, it's just like SCH's weather spells, they don't count towards the weather trials. Even though the mob is afflicted with the status, and that status would have an element associated with it, it just doesn't count.

I think SE just forgot to add these new status ailments to the trial conditions. It doesn't seem they did a lot of testing with several expansion elements.

We know the status effect doesn't have to be enfeebling magic - I used helices for all of mine. We know it doesn't have to be you that inflicts the mob because status effects put on by party members count. We know the status ailment is present on the mob, with an icon, because of PvP. There really isn't a sensible reason Geomancy enfeebles shouldn't work for these trials.

I don't accept that this is intentional just based on SCH storm behavior. Allowing storms to work, as much as I would like it, would make the day/weather requirement virtually meaningless. so I can see a "reason" not to allow them. I don't see anything overpowered about GEO spells working.

Edit: Maybe the AOE aspect would make SE think it's overpowered here? As far as AOE status, I remember doing Manifestation+Absorbs on SCH with a BLM doing -ga, but at least that required two people.
