Try uninstalling the game, make sure the install the folder where the game was install has been removed. Then run ccleaner, Click on registry and have to scan for problems then have it fix it. Keep running it until it find no problems.

MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE RUNNING THE FIX. CCleaner will prompt you if you want to back up the registry before it runs its fix.

Did you look in the FFXI config? Click on the sound tab then make sure "enable sound" is check. You could try also checking "Always On" but I have no idea what that dose as SE dose not explain things...

Thank you for trying to help.I have checked the ffxi config in game and out of it i even tried turning it off to see if it work><. The problem starts as soon as I go from pol to the game I dont even have sound during the opening cinimatic. Always on just means if you play in windowed mode the sound is still heard even if you minimize the window or go into another window that is not the game.

So I have been trying to think of something else you can try but nothing is coming to mind other then uninstalling your sound driver and reinstalling it again. Open Control Panel -> click on Device Manager -> click the + icon next to sound, video, and game controllers then right click on the one that says you sound card and click uninstall. Then reinstall the driver from the malfunctions website.

Check your registry to see if the sound is turn on. To get there, hit the keys Windows key + r to bring up the run command then type regedit and hit enter. I'm not sure what version of windows you are using so I will list the path of both 32 and 64 bit I am also going to asume you are using the NA version of the game. 32 bit is HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE\Software\PlayonlineUS\SquarEnix\FinalFantasyXI and 64 bit is HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE\Software\Wow6432Node\PlayonlineUS\SquarEnix\FinalFantasyXI
Inside this path, look for a DWORD named 0007. Double clicking on it will open a window where you can change the value. Make sure this is set to 1. If it is 0 then change it to 1 and click OK.

BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING OR VIEWING THINGS IN THE REGISTRY
