One thing that amazed me is that in one of the first missions, we are given the exact grid location of an objective. It was great, and I hope to see it more.

I agree it is nice and has aspects reminiscent to the leve system in ff14... The only things I don't like is that the content for adoulin is too high level. As a lvl 61 dancer, I am only able to do courier and scout missions. I am too weak to play on reives and do monster hunting quests. Another thing I dislike is that we can not obtain armor and weapons for lvl 99 character from an npc (and not be expensive)... NPC's don't need to sell the best gear, but it would be nice if they sold gear strong enough so that after I level my SAM or THF to 99, I could survive a reive and monster hunting mission....

I'm happy with it so far. I haven't found anything I don't like yet. The layout and the coalition systems are both very promising and fun to play with.

    Nope.

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/snide?s=t

Snide has nothing to do with the truth, it has to do with how you're presenting it.

There is a big different between: "The boss is late today." and "Oh, what a surprise, the boss is late again, as usual." both are true but very different.

Also... "Being negative is just a fact of life"? What does that even mean? I guess it's a fact of life for negative people that don't have anything better to do then dump their negativity over everything they see.

Anyways, my intent in this post was to state -positive- things about the expansion. Sure there are plenty of things I could nitpick about, but there is -plenty- of that to go around right now.

Thanks all for your replies, it's nice to see some other people are enjoying it too.

(BTW, I think Petrified Logs drop off some common treant mobs http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Petrified_Log ...Seems pretty rare though.)

Yes I am pleasantly surprised with a lot of the small things, like fast travel method which is always great. But overall the new expansion is a big disappointment. Compared to how great and well designed Abyssea is, even Voidwatch and Meeble Burrow, this new one is just underwhelm. They are recycling ideas from FF14 and WoTG - not a very bright idea at all considering the original FF14 is just a total bornfire of the failga of a game. The new battleground is a total mess, the new areas are recycled (and the same problems that plagued FF14 areas). We are getting 1 great new job and 1 half baked job (Geomancer) that can't even replace any of the solid original jobs.

They are doing great in implementing small changes and overall ease of travel but did a poor job in doing the bigger things. Compared to ToAU and Abyssea, this is a half baked expansion, similar to WoTG, very disappointed, I was expecting a much better one considering they did such an amazing work with Abyssea.

One of my few complaints, is that the new signet for this area is piss yellow, which distracts me a ton with how easily that color catches the eye.

I like the music and the layout of the city is nice too. I haven't really gotten excited with the expansion yet though. I think I'm just a little overwhelmed. I did some exploration and have lost about 15,000 XP getting killed by the new mobs. I might get into it a little more later, after fan sites and Wikis have been updated so I know what I'm doing. I think it was a little much putting level 100+ mobs directly outside the city walls. I hate to think what's further out. So far I think it was worth the money though.

I see where your coming from and as much as it sucks, you have to look at where the game is in its life cycle. Not only have we had multiple 75's for years, most players now have even more 99's. Considering that most of the mainlands are geared for level 75's, it'd probably be best for you to take your DNC and other jobs and level up a little bit more. The game has always progressed in a sort of ladder-style when it comes to content, so getting up to the 'standard 99' (level 99, max job merits, decent weapon, +2 empy gear) wouldn't be a bad idea before just jumping in. You may not be ready now, but it's not going anywhere, it'll be there when you're ready.

They've actually added some very decent level 99 gear that is bought with the new conquest points called bayld. Once you start participating in reives, it won't take you long at all to acquire.

Are we talking about the same Abyssea that was a COMPLETE copy of previous zones save for a nice crimson filter? Or Voidwatch where steroid-filled monsters spewed out nothing but logs? Or Meeble Burrows (which is pretty much glorified assault if we're comparing reives to campaign) where the only bosses that drop decent gear take 5 KIs from the other crap bosses to get to,? And even then they're drop rates are not ideal.

Don't get me wrong, I had my fun with Abyssea. Who doesn't like to go God mode? Meeble Burrows was really fun too. I just don't think your arguments hold much weight if you're holding it to the light of the content you mentioned.

Not really related to your post Luvbunny, but more of a rant on my end:
I'm really starting to feel like SE is fighting a hopeless fight when it comes to pleasing its customers at the moment. When Abyssea was introduced, people say it was too easy. Now that there are T's right outside the town gate, and then they complain. (which by the way, seem about as hard as a decent challenge in dynamis, so I wouldn't say they're actually T's)
People gripe about not getting actual expansions, wanting to see the rest of Vana'diel, and getting add-ons thrown down our throats. Then when they actually deliver, complain the the tile is the same as Jeuno's. (OH HEAVENS NO! ANYTHING BUT THAT!) And all of this gets thrown at them from customers who can't seem to grasp the fact that they're horribly understaffed, and that it's a 10+ year old game. It's like asking a 5 year old kid to make a robot out of cardboard. I honestly think they performed a goddamn miracle.

If it were any other standard company, they'd have jumped ship on this game and invested more in games that can actually compete in this day and age. We're lucky we're getting anything at all. Thank you SE for a very fun and entertaining expansion. You did not, and probably should not have done it. But you did. So again, thank you.

Whoever said that WoTG had more zones is wrong. WoTG was a joke with 3 new zones added. The rest were stupid reskins.
    These are all new zones
