A request to the Devs regarding the current situation and the world merge

Hello. I've played FFXI on and off over the past...6 years or so. I just recently joined the community once again about half a week before the disaster. The reason for my return is to play with my brother, which I haven't been able to do, as Gold World Passes were temporarily removed from the Shiva server in anticipation for the world merge with Alexander. However, due to the earthquake, not only is FFXI's service temporary suspended (which I have no problem with), but the world merger is also delayed indefinitely. So I'd like to make an honest request, which may sound selfish yet comes with the possibility that others are also suffering from my situation. Can you allow the purchasing of Gold World Passes for a certain amount of time after FFXI service is restored? I ask this because the world merge appears to have been delayed considerably and I cannot play until I am able to enter Shiva, which is the world my brother is in. If this is not possible, I completely understand but I'd be very joyed if it were.

I do have a suggestion though. You could both make a new character on an unaffected world just to be able to play together and have fun. When the merged worlds get settled then you could delete or transfer to your friends world.
Its not a perfect answer but at least you could have fun while you wait.

You are referring to the 2010 merge right? What kind of abuse occurred? This is the first time I've heard of such a thing happening.

This is 100% accurate because they have already announced what worlds to where they won't unlock affected servers until after the merge

Unfortunately, those options aren't viable in my case, as I have thought about these suggestions already. Thank you though. If I can't have it my way, then I have no choice but to wait it out. I think I'm tough enough to sit patiently, especially given the circumstance.

EDIT: After all, a free month of April is more than enough to appease the penny pincher in me. This is assuming the world merge happens timely.

Ya it sucks just really bad timing if they hadn't announced the affected servers they would have already unlocked them and wouldn't have been a problem
