I read that those reactors were never going to work ever again. I doubt they are up and running, they just have power restored from an outside source.

[QUOTE=chrism;43722]If power can now be supplied to reactors 1,2,5, & 6 I think that its obvious they will work.... click on the link sending you to NHK JPs news feed and you'll see.[/QUOTE
those reactors will never work agian after putting salt water in them
They are supplying power from an outside source so they can keep the pumps working to keep the rods underwater. As Chrism said, they've sprayed sea water on them. Nuclear reactors won't work after you spray messy old sea water, full of all kinds of stuff, onto them. Reactors 1 through 4 will never work again. I'm not sure about 5 and 6 since they were off before the earthquake and tsunami.

Ok I stand corrected. Then why restore power to reactors 1,2,5,6 if they are inoperable then? Makes no sense then, Or they do work and they are just still working on it.
It's to keep the water pumps going, so they can keep the reactors cooled. I'm sure they also need other types of subsystems up and running to try to keep the reactors under control as well. They've not restored power to the reactors themselves, but the buildings around the reactors and all the machinery they need to do this.
