Like my friends say all the time when I am on this game. They never seen a company that will not take are money (takes a act of God) , It is there loss. Just move on.
Really lame there payment system and sign up process so brutal.
Sad part is this payment and sign up process is hurting the word of mouth on ff14 also, and ff14 is much easy to pay them.

Nothing in the above post is intended to disparage Square Enix or FINAL FANTASY XI, or to criticize Square Enix staff; such behavior would be a violation of the FINAL FANTASY XI User Agreement. Any such violations of the FINAL FANTASY XI User Agreement should be reported to Square Enix immediately, by using the "Report Post" icon in the bottom-left of forum posts.
No Moogles were harmed in the making in this post. Stars save the Sibyl!
Digital River is not a completely unknown company. For those that were old enough and were in the computer/software business. They were one of the major shareware/software distributor back in the '90's. But as OSS becomes more and more popular and more shareware went the way of OSS instead, they became less and less known as a company. Not 100% sure when they got into the ecom business, maybe they bought another company sometime along the way and decided to switch into that as shareware went the way of dinosaurs.
Similarly, Click-n-Buy is not a small company that runs out of someone's basement. Rather it is an international company that is mostly EU based but with coverage around the globe. I do believe it is owned by that 'small' german telecom company called 'Deutsche Telekom'. You know the one that is also known as 'T-Mobile' in the US.
I'm not here to defend SE's choice of their electronic payment provider but the fact is that there are many underlying reasons that one would go with certain payment provider. Some of these reasons might be:
1. Finanical incentives - what is the cost per transaction, currency conversation rate, etc.
2. Local regulations - what are the local tax requirements - just the tax table implementation can be a nightmare to deal with.
That is not for all countries, there are others which do not have those as options. For instance as I said before already, Canada has one option on Amazon, and EU has the other, only 1 edition for each of them and they are opposite editions. I am not speaking out about this problem because it effects me, rather it effects people I know and there are 5 threads a day popping up on this forum about the problem.
I completely agree with you. But it's worse as EU has no option to buy Adoulin so far, except for the regular expansion for Xbox 360 on the UK Amazon. There's nothing else. In a moderator post it was promised that we'd get more details on how to pre-order this week but the week is soon over.
Meanwhile, after a short disappearance of the whole EU Square Enix store (possibly to implement the "coming soon" pages for Adoulin), we now see those on there... with no option to buy them or a date when it might happen.
The official EU FFXI promotion site (which is www.ff11europe.com instead of finalfantasyxi.com for NA) is linking to digital download sites—4 in total. 2 have the Abyssea edition, 2 were bought by other companies and have either changed their name or no longer list FFXI in their store at all.
lol.
