    POL-1307 (UNKNOWN ERROR)

I cannot find any help online regarding this error and every time I fill out the form online to contact support it tells me I've missed something even though I've filled everything out correctly, it just does not seem to work.

Every time I log into POL, I get this error and nothing I've tried to do seems to fix it.
I was using a week USB wireless adapter after relocating the PC and thought that might be the problem, (I used to play on this PC on a wired connection). So, last night I got a wireless card and installed it and tried to log into POL again and still got this error. I tried my standard network (2.4ghz) and my HD network (5ghz) and it came up with the same error each time still.

It's interesting to me that the only things online I can find about this error are from 7 years ago... yet it's still referred to as an unknown error, lol.

I'm trying to get my old PC that I used to play on up and going again for my son who wants to play FFXI again (he played briefly a couple years ago) and his birthday is 3 days after the launch of the new expansion and I thought: what better time to get him back into the game?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

This is what happens every time I try to contact support:

    "Form Error

The following item(s) contain errors. Please check your information and try again.

Please enter a description of your inquiry.
    Contact Category Technical Support
    Contact Sub-category Known Issues
    Contact Details POL-1307 UNKNOWN ERROR
    Contact Method Contact Email
    * required"

The last line made me go back and look for an asterisk next to anything but there wasn't one... not sure what it's trying to tell me I missed there. lol

    What firewall are you running?

Basically, this. You'd be surprised how often these problems boil down to networking or security issues.

If you can run a network cable from this system directly to your modem, try that to see if it behaves (this is to rule out an issue with your router). If it still misbehaves while you are directly connected to your modem, then look at your local security (Windows or 3rd party Firewall, Internet Security or Anti-Virus software, etc.). If it behaves while some of this is bypassed/turned off, then that is where you need to focus on creating exceptions for FFXI. If it magically fixes it when you bypass your router, then you need to look at it's security options. It could be it's own firewall, or options with it's address translation (NAT)--consult your router's documentation for how to access the configuration pages to troubleshoot.

There are some older posts where a lot of this has been covered extensively...will see if I can find something to link here.

    EDIT:
Here's a link that might help you get through diagnosing connectivity issues. Provided POL-1307 is not something account related (ie, a serverside issue SE needs to address), an installation problem (wrong client version, improper uninstall/reinstall procedures), or a hardware/driver related problem, then there is a strong possibility it is connectivity. Yes, this thread may be a wall of text, but the posts there as well as the threads linked there cover a wide range of things that can contribute to both inbound and outbound connectivity issues, which is often the root of problems:

Well I disabled the Windows firewall and I wasn't using any other firewall and never thought about the possibility of the router causing the issue. (I honestly have very little experience with wireless connections -- I got the wireless to work on my wife's laptop, our phones, the many Xbox 360s we have, the PS3 and her Kindle and then on this old PC via the USB adapter and that has been the extent of my experience with wireless setups. lol)

Thanks very much for the info!
I'm going to try and figure all this out tomorrow.

I ran a 50 foot ethernet wire thru the house and tried that way but got the same exact error.

I'm running a file check on the FFXI files right now, but since this error pops up as soon as I login on POL I doubt any problems with those files would even matter.

This all really makes no sense to me, especially since I used that PC to play for years myself.
