Community Rep Abandonment Issues!

Where have our reps gone? As of this post, the jp community have 23 responses identified through the dev tracker since Okipuit's /yell message last week.

Last week they were preoccupied with FFXIV related work and yesterday was a holiday so they should be in the office today.

They are currently on the FFXIV media tour and are currently in London. News on both game's fronts will be limited until it is over.

I still don't understand the decision to have the very few community reps we do have cover both FFXIV and FFXI, given the magnitude of both projects & communities.

Case in point: Seekers (a major boxed expansion) is about to be released, there are several developer posts for the "community team" regurgitate to us. But they are pulled for a media tour for another game. Personally? I would fire the person that made that marketing decision...but Square Enix has been getting an F minus in marketing/communications/Customer Relationship & Community Management well before these forums. I see no sign of that grade changing.

But then I have to take into consideration that we don't have an actual community team (another F minus). We have translators that are not qualified, empowered or perhaps even permitted to speak about anything other than a directly translated response from a JP developer.

That is not community management. That is an iphone app.

At any rate, wherever these decisions are coming from, the job of managing the flow of information and conversation from our "community team" is being done very badly.

Well, the last time I looked, SE was actually looking for community managers on their jobs page. So maybe they just don't have enough people in that role.

Perhaps. But that, in and of itself, is a fairly large failure at this stage of the game.

They haven't been looking for an XI/XIV community rep since this time last year.

You could always grab a translation book and go post a few questions on JP forum, they might just answer it faster. As in the past they already stated they had a translation problem. One of the main issues they had that on was FFXIV, they said they would make an effort to address that, and is probably the reason this forum even exists today.
