XB360 messenger kit bug

My xbox 360 messenger kit has, for no apparent reason, stopped working on FFXI. It works on playonline; it works on xbox 360 stuff, but it does nothing on ffxi. I can press the messenger button on the chatpad and it will bring up the xbox messenger window in ffxi so it's not like it's not plugged in. It just won't work and it makes me sad

If anyone has any advice on how to solve this please let me know

Have you plugged an USB keyboard on the XBOX360 ? Or any device that reports itself as a HID keyboard ? FFXI (and other XBOX360 software) will give preference to a USB keyboard over the chatpad if any is present.
