    Item Exchange System

    I think there should be an item exchange system, where you can turn in your old rare/ex gear for points, and then use those points to buy other rare/ex gear.

    There is tons of rare/ex gear that I have from way back in the day that is no longer useful but it is gear that took me a very long time to get, for example Sirroco Kukri, Optical Hat, etc.

    It would be nice to be able to turn those items into new gear that is useful. Possibly something along the lines of you get 5 points for O-Hat, 3 points for Sirroco Kukri, and you could buy a Athos's Gloves for 60 points.

    It would be better than throwing my current gear away (making me feel like I wasted all the time spent getting it), this would also possibly allow older content to find new life. When was the last time there were people camping Kreutzet or Dune Widow...

    A problem I see for this is ppl just getting the same stuff to trade in over and over. The only way to keep this fair is for the system to keep a list of what items have already been traded in that way players just don't go after the same items over and over, especially if items are worth a substantial amount of points.

    But this is a nice idea

    Its totally fine. Noone buys Ohat Cluster popitems anymore. This would make a market for them again.
    Sirroco Kukri be kinda a bad item to put in the list cus of how rare it is and nasty pop timers.

    Yeah, my thinking was you make it undesirable for any specific item to be traded multiple times by giving it a lower point value. For example if a NM that drops an item can only spawn once a day then it's worth more than an item dropped by a NM that can spawn every 2hrs. For example, Velocious Belt would be worth a lot because King Arthro only spawns once a day and has less than 10% drop rate. That's some rare gear right there, but it's antiquated gear that people don't use too much anymore... and people don't try to get anymore (at least no one I have talked to)

    I wouldn't want to exclude items like Sirocco Kukri because people already have them and have no use for them anymore. I think AF could be included in there as well just not worth much (I don't think those quests are repeatable but I can't remember tbh).

    It's just a suggestion that I hope the devs take to heart and implement. I think it would make just about everyone happy. Let them clean up inventory and work toward some goals they may not have any other way to achieve. It would hopefully get players into zones and content that are not entered much anymore and give people more options for things to do when no events seem to be going on on their server.

    Not sure this idea would be very good, but as a spin on it, how about quests that involve getting certain R/E pieces of gear to upgrade them, and some recipes for certain other pieces of gear.

    For example, White Mages everywhere who invested heavily into melee might still be nostalgically holding onto a Sea Robber Cudgel, a Seawolf Cudgel, a Reverend Mail, and a Restorer Cloak. There could be a quest to collect all four of these items to make some sort of piece of gear that enhances Afflatus Misery for example.

    Another example could be a Thief with a Sirocco Kukri perhaps having a way to upgrade a Thief's Knife with static augments.

    On the other end, items like a Optical Hat could be either augmentable via Synergy like certain Sky gears were made to be, or even used as a pop item for something bigger (personally I'd be a fan of a quest that merges all the skill headbands with the Ohat for a unified accuracy headpiece).

    But some items are bound to be missed in any scheme for upgrading them or reusing them for further quests. This is just part of the game progressing away from them.

    Well my initial thinking was

    There is already enough new level appropriate gear, it just isn't very available to everyone. It would be nice if there were a system in place that would make that gear even a little accessible to the masses, and it would be nice to get people playing old content again. I think there is a casual playerbase that doesn't feel included because they don't have a huge ls that does events 24x7 and when these people do have time to play it would be nice if there was something they could do that would be working toward a goal, instead of standing around hoping for shouts.

    It would be cool if they would upgrade some of the rewards for old content missions/quests but that wouldn't be fair to the people that already completed them and can't do them again and it misses a lot of the point of this system.

    1. A use for that old rare/ex gear
    2. Making new currently existing gear available to people it is currently not available to
    3. Getting people into empty zones

    I don't think this game needs any more new gear or gear that is add this than do that then do this and it's a little better gear. People already have a lot a lot of gear they don't use anymore that they spent a lot of time getting, this gives them a use for that gear, free up inventory space (trade multiple pieces to get 1) and allow them access to some newer things they currently can't access. It might take them 10-20 pieces of old gear to get one piece of new gear this way it keeps the new awesome gear rare but makes it at least somewhat accessible.

    The system would only accept gear lvl 75 and under for trade in and there would have to be a balance to the value of items compared to the cost of what you can get (as previously noted).

    I don't even want to discus augmenting and synergy both are hit or miss and a pain in the ass.

    I would like this to be something that is usable by everyone, not trials they have to play at certain times to complete, not requiring multiple people to be involved, not requiring specific skills or crafiting levels. Just something to do and something to work toward.

    I also think that this type of system would be easy for them to implement after the difficult part of assigning values. It doesn't require any new gear creation, any new monsters, any pop systems, just a simple store.
