Unable to install Wings of the Goddess

Hello!

I'm a returning veteran, and while re-installing the game I ran in to a bit of a snag.

I'm unable to install Wings of the Goddess. The entire game up until Wings of the Goddess works fine, but Wings of the Goddess gives me the error message "FINAL FANTASY XI is not installed. Please install Final Fantasy XI to proceed".

Now, I know this error message appears when attempting to install an expansion pack on another version of FFXI (say, attempting to install a European WoTG on a US copy of FFXI), but that is not the case here. They're both the same version.

Just to verify, though, I changed the registry of FFXI to make it seem like a EU copy of the game, but that did not work. I also borrowed a EU version of the game and tried to install that, but it gave me the same error.

And yes, I also tried changing the registry to make it seem like a JP version of the game just to double check, but no go.

Basically, I'm at a loss. I installed the game just fine with the exact same CD's a few years back when I first got WoTG, but I just can't get it to work now. Could the issue be with Windows 8?

Either way, is there any other solution?

We are sorry to hear about your installation issues. Due to the registry edits and region issues, we would like to suggest uninstalling all components of FINAL FANTASY XI, downloading and running a registry cleaner, and reinstalling FINAL FANTASY XI. Please make sure that all of the software installed is of the same region, or it will cause conflicts. If this does not resolve your issue, please reply back to this thread.
