Random thought. How about buffs with bigger bonuses, but have a down side. Say for example, Haste III, but it also causes a 3 point dot or lowers some other stat like eva.

You mean like Berserk, Aggressor, Counterstance, Yonin, Innin, Defender, Soul Eater, Last Resort, Light Arts, Dark Arts...

There's no reason to make a haste spell that lowers evasion or whatever...

People like balance, they preach about it a lot on these forums. These kinds of spells would allow people to get a greater benefit at a cost. Evasion was just an example, it followed a DoT, but it seems you only read the begining and end.
