Question about Additional Contents and Expansion Packs

    Hello!

My PlayOnline account is NA, and my SquareEnix account is EU. My PlayOnline account is linked to my SquareEnix account, meaning that payment etc. is now handled through the SquareEnix account. Previously, I payed in USD, but now I pay in EUR.

My question is; if I'm to buy the new Expansion Pack when it's released, should I buy the NA version or the EU version? I don't want to have to buy one, only to find out that I need the other.

If I still payed in dollars I would naturally buy the NA version, but since I now pay in EUR I'm confused - especially since I seem to have a slight memory that when I linked my POL account to my SquareEnix account some 2.5 years ago, it warned me that my POL account would be converted in to a EU account. but, like I said, that was 2.5 years ago, so I might be remembering wrong.

Help? I can't be the only one to ever have appeared in this situation.

I'm in the same boat, and I'm very certain that it doesn't matter. What region your account is in should have no impact on the content of the game, only on organisational issues, such as payment, shipping and special events like Mog Bonanza, which are region dependent, meaning you'll be considered with the EU pool instead of the US pool when it comes to that.

I don't even think the game itself has a region, I think that applies only to POL. But that I'm not sure about, I merely never noticed any differences.

It does have regions. Previously, if you had a NA version of POL, you were unable to add a EU expansion pack to your NA account. That's why I'm uncertain whether I need to import the next expansion from the states, or if I can just pick it up in a local store.

As I stand looking out from my mog house window, I reminisce about the old days and the many ups and downs of my adventures throughout Vana'diel.

The digital copies will still have NA/JP/EU codes though, which is what I'm wondering which one I'll need.

Expansion content is currently region locked depending on your PlayOnline account, not the SQUARE ENIX Account. If you have a NA PlayOnline Account, you will need to use a NA expansion code. The same would apply for any EU PlayOnline IDs. I hope this information was helpful and if you have any further questions in regards to this, please contact the SQUARE ENIX Support Center. Since this is not a technical issue with FINAL FANTASY XI, we have closed this thread.
