Dark Knight ~ 90: Yes I actually use a Scythe.
Festive Moogle items that are impossible to get for new players would also be cool too, maybe as rank 3 or 5.
A few examples:
Tidal Talisman
Moogle Cap
Chocobo Beret
Arpischord
Etc. Recruitment program items like Sol/Lunar cap or Mini-Airship and Timepiece would be cool too, since not everyone can afford a second account to get those. I'm in Italy and MMORPGs are unfortunately not popular in my country, and since 2006 I haven't managed to get a friend recruited to get these things. Give it a thought!

Italian Dragoon FTW! <3 Azure 4Ever. (Roleplayer)
Only if tradable, people will not be able to get the desired weapon based solely on race. I.e. Only taru would be able to get scythes and scythes only. As sellable game economoes have shown in the past, something on the level of afterglow would be more like $250.

Dear SEAlso, if you have any suggestions or ideas for items you would like to have in the Mog Bonanza, please let us know. (We are planning to add the Archangel weapons and Cat’s Eye back in.)
Let us delivery to ourself the items like cat's eye please, not much sense to win 1 and just cant use it, thanks
so am I to take it that the legal barriers that canned the NA version are no longer considerred barriers?
A nice purpose the lottery serves is to help (by a very small margin) to remove gil from this otherwise bloated, inflated economy. Count yourself lucky that the dev's haven't factored in the current prices of AH items and have made marbles 100k each. The only reason in not doing so I'd imagine is the fact they would like newer players to take part in the event (which is a good thing).
Offtopic: I wonder if SE will end up sometime in the future, raise hourglass costs for dynamis or other events... or reduce the rate of which gil is obtained from other means. The latter way might be moot as the damage is done already. In FFXIV they have reduced all of the gil that current players possess by a percentage. I don't know if this is the right way to go about things but something has to be done soon or the gap between legit starting players and long time vets will grow even further. Current cluster prices are sort of an odd note now. The rich don't want to spend the time to farm them but the poor are more then willing to do so for the prices they are going at. It's one of the few low level items that sell fast (and have a decent value) and can be obtained with little effort by a low level player.

If you have not noticed, everything in the AH costs 4-40k with exception to really rare HQ lv86+ equipment (and mats) which can run for 400k-4M.
New people such as myself (i only have 15 days playtime on this character, my old character is forever lost) are totally effing screwed. I was lucky enough to get a flame gem somehow, idr, (most vets in my ls were surprised themselves), which got me 2.5m in the AH. I bought two pieces of armor, a crummy dagger, and some gobbie bag upgrades. Your perception of how the market in FFXI is now compared to pre-abyssea is a little skewed.
Either way, as analhyme stated, the gil prizes = gil raised/winners. It makes sense to charge for the lottery, but the rewards are pretty laugh worthy when you've spent hundreds of thousands on this lottery over the years only to get statues. Now, if I could vendor statues in for 10-50k each, then I'd be really interested.

I don't mind the gil, but I do wish there were a way to get your numbers without having to lose 10 slots for a couple months. Or at least shorten the marble buying period to 8-14 days, then announce the winning numbers and put out the prize moogles within two days of the purchase period ending. It would be even better if they could let us do it from a special page in our SE accounts, though they'd probably have to set it up so you can't buy in if you're currently logged into the game(to prevent potential glitches with people trading away all their gil in-game to avoid paying or whatever). No marbles that way, just your numbers on your account.
