Different Lvl Magian Weapons

I haven't gotten the chance to look into it too much, but I was unable to find info on the wikki.
My concern is in the chest next to the moogle when you first go to choose a weapon to trial out, there are different lvls of the same type of weapon to begin with. Why? Is there a reason for that, because I don't understand it. Is it better to begin with a lvl 75 weapon or an 80? Any info would be great. Thanks.
