    Just because I'm used to driving to work (and complain about it to any one who will listen), doesn't mean that cars don't do any good. Walking 70 miles a day to / from work would suck ass. Much like walking across several city zones sucks ass (I'm looking at you windy) and would be greatly improved by this.

    this!. people always going to keep complaining no matter what. just like the warps. we got so many way of getting around places faster even with the new proto warps and people was still complaining. once you guys get the more speed movement. 1 month later... "it slow around the cities, i want warps to the AH, mog house, and shops"

    You're missing the metaphor. The difference between walking and driving is vast. A human can walk maybe 4 miles per hour tops and a car at highway speeds can hit 20 times that. That's a 2000 percent increase. The speed adjustments being proposed are a much more modest 25% or so. It's the difference between getting to work in 60 minutes and getting there in 45 minutes. Yeah it's a nice little boost, but after a while you're like "damn, I hate driving 45 minutes to get to work every day".

    I'm not opposed to the idea, but I doubt it will help anything.

    You can use the synergy earrings to warp to any city in the present. Outpost and Abyssea warps to get to several outdoor zones, and now the proto-waypoints to even more zones. Yet here we are complaining that it takes too long to get places.

    All I ask is that they add movement speed+ as a possible augment on Wlegs, to increase it to +18% like fajin/skadi feet+1. Not as standard so you still have to work for it, but to allow them to become more "up to date" considering they're fairly rare and i'd say half of the Wlegs are owned solely for movement speed+.

    While the "give a mouse a cookie" observation is true, it does not invalidate the percieved necessity for always getting more than what you currently have. If it did, the level cap would never have been raised, newer/stronger gear would never be released, and the game would be pretty boring by now. We need a sense of growth. We've been walking around these cities for nearly 10 years now, and we're still no better at it than we were since mazurka was released.

    I agree with the idea, that movement speed should be increased inside a city, but outside it would, in my opinion, hurt the battle-system like Pebe said; An alternative to just increase movement speed in outdoor areas: double the movement speed of chocobos. Riding a Chocobo is done just for the purpose of getting from A to B. Additionally give Windurst at least a movement speed+ aura; "the orastery is proud to introduce the free-flee spell that enhances everybody inside the city walls".

    I think overall our base speed needs to be another +8-12% normally. Running around in at least +12% movespeed already feels more natural.

    I can't help but remember this image from what's now almost three years ago. Job-specific emotes aside, we never did get any of the "lifestyle skills" (which involved attaching stats such as Movement speed or crafting-related stats to equipment) or "adventurer skills" (which was presumably supposed to be our second "Merit point"-like system) from Trials of the Magians, did we?

    While I'm on the subject, I want to say that the Magian Weapon acquisition and customization system is to date my favorite that has has ever been released in this game by far, and the Empyrean Armor Trials felt like they left a lot to be desired by comparison (not that the rewards weren't powerful or anything . . .). And there was a lot of clamor at the time when job-specific emotes were introduced into the Magian system because it felt like they didn't belong there, but that got quickly exaggerated by players to how it felt like "everything" was being thrown in to a system that was perceived as "grindy" (though I must restate my appreciation for the almost complete lack of randomness involved, item-based Trials notwithstanding).

    This is quite a broad expansion of this very specific topic on Movement Speed, but will we ever see the "lifestyle skills" branch of the Trials of the Magians added, even three years after its debut? (I have less concern for "adventurer skills," since I am more certain that something as highly anticipated as the second Merit Point-like system will see the light of day eventually, particularly as more and more players make it to 99, according Producer Matsui's vision.)
