I have the same probleme, looks that songs and tiers IV magic kick me faster; overall, it is still pretty random.
Nvidia graphic card, and same kernel error.
Also Windows 7.

Fix registery didnt work, neither take previous Nvidia driver, neither execute PoL in windows XP compatibility.

From my understanding, its a problem between windows 7-8, Nvidia grapic cards, and FFXI.

Very frustating while play, especially in campaign.
