Attention Devs! Total overhaul like FFXIV??

It seems to me like almost all of the "No we cannot or will not do that" that comes from the Dev team stems from the fact that the game was programmed over 10 years ago. Why not do a overhaul and fix it all at once? Ground up revamp would be great and maybe you could even tie it into the new Expansion. This should let you eliminate the dead weight (PS2) and overhaul the things the community wants. Even if the servers went off for few months I think the player base in general would be appreciative of the revamped game (especially if you implement some of the more popular suggestions from the community).

Why not?

Because it would cost more than they could ever hope to make back over the next 5 years, and there's no way the few extra players it would draw to the game would pay for that huge investment.

also, the problems stem from very low level portions of the code rooted in the PS2 environment. Could be a logistical nightmare for their skeleton crew to complile/test/crank out two completely different versions at this late stage of the game. For the most part, the recent changes for the non-PS2 clients aren't tapping into those more problematic portions of the code (more like tweaks to the packaging and not the inside package itself) and present less of a challenge.

What happens when you spend millions making a movie with "Final Fantasy" in the title and then the movie being quite non-ff like... movie flops, makes the bank bleed heavy and they needed something to bail them out at the time...

I will say though... not a single FF made since the merger (IE anything post-ff10) has truely felt like a ff game to me...

Like a long, strange adventure that I'm never sure why we're taking in the first place until the final boss shows up and reveals that he/she/it is some weird eternal being that wants to use my ass as a foot stool. Then the end credits start to roll and I'm still not sure what's going on. Something about friendship usually, and hats. Silly hats.

ive thought about this before. And while it might help the game itself, the time the game would be down would destroy it. With no new player base joining really, the going down would move those they have to other games. When they came back they probably would have less players then when they left.
