The AH thing was only mentioned because the recent jump of a couple dozen ranks or so most people are seeing suggested (to the person who brought it up) that a bunch of people are quitting the game. Byrth explained why that's wrong. Let it go.

NO, my saying the ranks drops meant that SOMETHING was up. I did list a few possible examples but, they where in not intended to be the only possible reasons. Hopefully this is a good enough explanation of that comment.

I recognized the huge change in rankings, I think wish made an argument that guild portal payment rounds started. Since I don't pay for those that explanation can't be 100% accurate as to why the ranking changed so rapidly. On the other hand if players quit or get ban the community site stops showing that data. Does the ranking for them disappear to? I'm still about the same ranking as I was when I noticed the huge change. I did go back and check my old UNICORN info. It's still listed just no rankings. Questions questions to think about.

If it's because billing rollovers on FFXI why hasn't the ranking reverted? Something caused this you'd need to be totally blind to ignore it completely. I pointed this change out because it didn't seem normal. Now does the players ranking get removed if the community site deletes the players? If it does remove inactive, ban, or canceled accounts from the ranking it may still hold some relevance.

No offense, but you shouldnt have to rely on a rank number to feel and know you have achieved things... the number system is pretty much arbitrary and is (generally) only used by those who want to look down on someone else with a lower rank than them to boost their own morale

EDIT: There are ppl who go out and just build lv 80 emps just for the points, since the rank system doesnt differentiate between 80/85/90/95/99/99 II versions of the wep

So what if they use it to up ranks. They didn't get them all done in a single day. Looking down on others isn't what makes them good. I have one empy no relics. It's not because I can't go for another but it's the one only one I really wanted to put effort in. Same with jobs. if I wanted to I could level up all my jobs to 99 in a few weeks but why? If it's not something I want or need then the only other reason to level them as a trophy. I leveled my crafts because they can be useful. If someone looks at me and they need something crafted this is my resume.

It's much easier to search players on ffxiah then the FFXI community site. I've used the FFXI community site to collect useful info. Such things as finding piers to work with quest, missions or high level crafters. You can find the higher ranking players normally have the skills or jobs leveled needed to do almost anything 1-400 in server ranking. The people who've placed their info on the community site/ffxiah are there to enhance the gaming experience. Most players who can't see the usefulness of those rankings lack the understanding of their utility. It's not only about gear or ego, look past that and meet new people.

When a ranking above 400 drops 100pts something is up. How many of those ranked players felt the same as the original topic poster that had over <400 on this server. It's not all rainbows and lollypops. Just read how the original poster felt.

Side note, all those WOW people are getting massacred by in game hackers GM nuking entire cities. Funny stuff.

Byrth is referring to people who paid for GW services and then stopped paying. They got purged, because their AH profiles were derived from the GW accounts they no longer have, rather than the LS Community Site. They are still playing FFXI. I know some of them. You and I never paid for GW services (and thus our profiles are supported by community site info), so we're still there.

What isn't hard, the fact that you don't know that something is self explanatory. By saying something this leaves it up to interpretation of the readers. You don't need to defend that argument just because I think more might be going on.

This is my personal opinion. It doesn't really matter because others are being given the opportunity to decide themselves. You just want to say "NO!" this 100% right force feeding that everything is perfect in a world of rainbows and lollypops. In reality I'm not wrong something did happen when the ranks dropped and you just admitted to one possible SOMETHING.

WE aren't babies most of us can figure things like this out.

Maybe maybe not. That's up to you to figure out. Look at the LS i'm in on my FFXI profile You see a leader Linkshell?

No wait, the whole F'n ls quit the and the rest quit the game. Get the picture? I Don't need an AH rank to know fact from fiction. People hated the way the game went and took their money with them.

How do I know this? Real friends explain themselves before they leave/quit and I've been seeing a lot of attitudes like the OP recently.
