Implement an option to lockstyle weapons from others to lvl 1s please.

For me the reason to check people is to see what they got equipped, so you can see it's name and stats and search how to get it.
Since people can lockstyle armor AND weapons it has become totally senseless to do so.
Everytime i try to see which weapon someone has equipped and to see a totally different one, it's damn disappointing. (-.-)
So why can't we lock weapons to a lvl 1 version of the same weapon type, if we can lock other players gear on our screens to starting gear? It's ok to make them see their favourite stuff on their screens. But please give us an option to not become so disappointed on each check. Plus that would prevent us to check others also.

So please SE, implement an option to lockstyle weapons from others to lvl 1s. <Thank you!> m<(o.O)"M~~~

    What?

If you want to know what a person has equipped just ask them?

In ffxiv the name of the currently equipped item shows, but then it fades and the name of what they have glamoured over it appears so you can then go look it up. Would be nice if they did something similar here cause I always see stuff on people and think "that looks cool, wonder what it is so I can look up how to get it" then I check and they don't actually have whatever it is equipped and there's nothing showing what they have lockstyled.

I'm not really sure what you're asking for with this level 1 stuff.

Lockstyle works on armor, but not on weapons. Basicly it's the same option that i want from locking armor. Either see the currently equipped weapon or a starting gear piece.

Lockstyle does work on weapons - however it only works for the same weapon types.
You can't lockstyle a staff in place of a sword for example.

Okay, first post reads like IKEA instructions so I'm completely confused. From what I gather though, if you check someone who has their style locked, you'll only be able to see the style gear and not their actual armor? Is that actually the case, or not? If it is, then I think that should be addressed more than anything else.

You can already lock weapon styles onto gear, as mentioned above. It has to match the weapon type (dagger for dagger, sword for sword etc), but it's perfectly possible to make that Mandau look like a level 1 rusty dagger if you wanted (or even vice-versa).

Think I figured out what OP is talking about. In the in game config there's an option to display other characters in their starter gear. It was implemented to improve ps2 performance because newer gear would cause lag or crashes.

This option isn't meant for aesthetic purposes to make you not want to check people, and it's nothing to do with lockstyle. it's there to improve performance on low end machines. There's no option for weapons because they're not that graphically demanding, other than the effects, which do have an option to be turned off.

I wish weapons could be locked across types, though I get it, it makes weaponskill animations look funny, however, I do have a suggestion to the OP's "issue"

/checkstyle as oppposed to /check could display the lockstyle set the player is using, rather than their currently equipped gear, I wouldn't think that would be too hard to implement.
