Unstartable/Incompletable Quest (Megadrile Menace):Quest does not start upon entering

Steps:

1. Entered Abyssea Tahrongi Canyon for the first time alone (but with a small group of three), attempting to obtain an abyssite (Viridian Abyssite of Merit) as well as clear the Megadrile Menace quest. Unsure of exact time but it was probably around 1:30 to 2:15 MST.

2. Megadrile Menace cutscene that shows upon first entrance of Abyssea Tahrongi Canyon did not show. Initially assumed prior entrance to the zone.

3. Alliance formed while I was in Abyssea Tahrongi Canyon. Everyone else was still in Tahrongi Canyon.

4. A minute or so after entering, I exited assuming we were still waiting for people.

5. Almost immediately after exiting, I reentered, as did everyone else. Still no cutscene occurred.

6. For the first hour or so, I and two others hunted for Bhumi, and slayed at least 4-6. Other team in alliance was killing NM's and other mobs to get Key Items for Glavoid.

7. After obtaining two Viridian Abyssite of Merit (one for me and another for a member of my LS) the three of us proceeded to kill various mobs, primarily Blood Bats, to kill some time while the others got Key Items for Glavoid.

8. Around 4:00, we started aiding in obtaining the remaining Key Items for all memebers excluding 2 (myself and the other who got the Viridian Abyssite of Merit)

9. Around 5:30-6:00 I went around unlocking Confluxes, then waited at Glavoids probable spawn for the others to arrive.

10. At about 6:30 or so, others arrived and spawned Glavoid. This was done between about 6:30 to about 7:00-7:15 (Killing about 6 or 7 Glavoids).

11. Used conflux 8 to get back to the start of Abyssea Tahrongi Canyon (conflux 1). Did not exit for 5 or so minutes (was reading an article on another computer).

12: At around 7:30 I exited Abyssea Tahrongi Canyon expecting a cutscene on the other side of the maw. There wasn't one. Here I checked my quest log (both the Current and Completed) looking for Megadrile Menace, but it was not in either. The title granted by killing Glavoid, however, was given to me. I also looked for the prior quest to Megadrile Menace, Dawn of Death, which was there and completed.

13. I re-entered and exited Abyssea Tahrongi Canyon, hoping for the cutscene to occur then, but nothing. I repeated this one more time but to no avail.

14. Asked my LS if they knew what was going on, but they did not and told me it may be a bug or a glitch and to ask a GM.

14. Used the Help Desk to ask a GM. The response was treated as though I was asking how to do the quest, and I was told to ask other players...

PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT asking for how to do the quest. I can get that information elsewhere (not that I would need to, this was essentially the same procedure done with the other megabosses which ended not only with cutscenes, but also success).

Should I contact a GM in game again to possibly rectify my problem? Will I have to fight Glavoid again?

Just to make sure: did you have at least one Traverser Stone with you when checking that maw for the first time, or at any time? ^^

If this is the case, I imagine that once you receive the cutscene while entering, since you have the title already, it is likely that the quest will be completed the next time you enter Tahrongi Canyon (one does not actually need to exit Abyssea through them maws to complete these quests).


I do hope this helps, and that this is indeed the reason for the issue, instead of something more tricky...

It turns out that I didn't have a traverser stone upon entering =P. I just attempted entering and exiting with a traverser stone in hand and would like to verify that it indeed worked! I got the entering cutscene and the exiting cutscene, as well as the KI. Looks like I'm at fault for not bringing a stone (/fail), then panicking when something appeared to go wrong.
