It can also be done right now by assigning a mule for LS storage duties, and have a clear online document with LS rules that state that if you borrow any items from any LS members, you are required to return them when leaving the linkshell or when the original owner requests it.

That's true I suppose, but that would require someone playing the mule and a certain level of trust. With the system being discussed, there would theoretically be no fear of losing your gear that you put in. I was also thinking of being able to access this "bank" simply from the linkshell menu. Maybe after clicking on the "bank" choice an ah like interface pops up where you can choose weapons or armor and then more specific drill downs from there. The idea of having a physical chest to deposit/withdraw gear and weapons is interesting and makes more sense than having a magical ls bank delivery service included in your pearl, although not as easy as having it all accessible through the ls menu!

I'm not against a LS bank feature where members could deposit stuff for others to use (such as crafting components, leveling gear no longer sold on AH, etc), but when you need a board of directors to remove even a flintstone it's rather pointless. Such a LS bank feature would be interesting in combination with a LS moghall. Buy an island in Adoulin, put up an upgradable linkshell hall, decorate it with furniture like stuffed behemoths or a bismarck skull for prestige.

Ooh I really like the idea of a LS hall! That has a lot of possibilities, could have LS ranks of some sort which would let your shell take on missions and rank up to take on harder missions. Rewards could include ls bank items, ls hall expansions, among other things. Maybe the shell next to peoples names and when they are checked could change shape or something depending on rank/commitment to the LS hall missions.

With this idea maybe you could take into account peoples craft skills as well. Like if for example you have an expert goldsmither you could upgrade your guild with more decorative gems and golden items through items they craft, or something like that.

Again, cool ideas, but not likely
