asking people playing on ps2 to (buy and) play on box is stupid.
Most of em already have a PC, FFXI can turn on "small" PC,
so the good advice is
PLEASE PS2 USERS PLAY ON PC!

The biggest problem when trying to choose a PC or notebook to play this game with, is it MUST NOT have an integrated graphics chip. The game will not run with an integrated chip, you all say oh hey guys, its so easy and cheap to get a 200 dollar computer for this game, but the problem is it refuses to run with integrated chip, and if ur planning to buy a really really cheap computer, its going to have an integrated chip and not an NVIDEA or ATI card in it. Just be careful and pay attention to the cards in them.
ID love to know too, cuz id get a cheapo computer myself. The main problems with it is because integrated chips just dont have the Shaders capability that the good name brand cards do. At least thats my understanding. And suppose there was a way to make it work, and i have seen something about getting it to work on google or somethin, but does the incapability of a shader from the integrated card, hinder the games performance.
I'm sure they're easy enough to find with a little searching. Happy hunting.
