    Seekers of Adoulin PS2 Question!

I'm not a regular poster, but couldn't find an answer to this question.

I know that the new expansion is not coming to PS2 for USA players, but I was wondering if that means we couldn't just import a JPN Seekers of Adoulin disc and still install it for use on PS2?

I only ask this question because (as a player on all platforms) at one time I actually bought a French install disc of CoP by accident and it worked fine with my PS2!

Just putting it out there because I know that worked for me, but EUR and USA clients might be different than JPN clients... not sure!

There might also be the issue of JPN game on USA PS2, but if you had a JPN PS2... idk. What do you guys think?

A JP disk would not work on the PS2 unless it was hacked or an import.

I can't claim to know jack about the specifics of the PS2 install, but I'm not going to be surprised if someone figures out a way to copy over the JP version to a US drive, and do a bit of editing to put it into English mode.

Oh someone will undoubtedly spend more time money and effort getting it to work on PS2/3, than it would take to just play on a superior system to begin with.

Yeah, I don't know why anyone plays FFXI on consoles when it's so much better on PC.

A lot of people are either intimidated by rather simple things that just seem like they should be difficult (updating graphic card, etc) or aren't sure of what to get. Having a system that you can literally put the disk into, install and update is pretty convenient if you don't know what you're doing with a computer.

Unfortunately for them, computers are pretty easy to upgrade and also consider that this is a pretty old game so any computer you buy at say, Best Buy will likely run it decently. You can pretty much pull it out of the box, play with it for a few minutes and get the game to run.

But if you really don't want to do the work or research, buying a console is a decent option (but really, who doesn't have a computer these days?).

For me, as I've noted in past threads on this subject, I find the PC version looks worse than the PS2 version (on a PS3). I have a laptop that spanks this game, but it still renders no better than it did on my old laptop which also did well running the game. It's still watered down looking, names still spawn with the mobs, day and night still pass like a ton of bricks... It's just hard not to notice these things for me, the names thing in particular cause I use them as range-finders. It's a shame about the new expansion... seems I'll be forced to buy the PC version anyway just to enjoy the new content.

No idea how you didn't know about changing the registry to upgrade the PC graphics.

Again, it's more than just how sharp the graphics look, it's also those things I mentioned. "Oh, that's just a nitpick." Yeah, it is. But it's a nitpick I can't ignore, like an LCD with a dead pixel. Sure, it's just one pixel, but you're not going to tell me it's not going to bug the hell out of you. The PS2 version doesn't have those oddities.

Can pretty much blame SE for this though, since until recently the only settings we got to choose from in the config were "bad, really bad, @#$%ing terrible". At least now they realize people don't play on a 800 x 600 monitor and updated it to support higher resolutions.
