No items, it utilizes abilities to activate offensive or defensive runes and MP consumption for enhancing magic.

Where exactly did SE say Rune Fencer is linked to consumable items in comparison to ninja? The Vanafest feed (Engrish) I watched was a bit jumpy at times and I must have missed it.

Well there is a difference, SAM can tank through DD & Seigan/Third-Eye where as NIN was meant to be a ranged attacker/DD and ended up as a Tank. I think SAM fit alot of the role it was given, except that with the fall of tanking its DDing still keeps as it a playable job. In events where NIN cant tank, NIN is at best a procer, almost never a DD.
