I love all FFXI events. They should be a little more grand though. The last one had two people in each city walking around and that was it. I personally want a grand worldwide themed celebration for each event.

There are places that do something like this in the states. It's not the same thing exactly, mind you, but there are things for children at amusement parks, local and state faires, as well as ren faires. Not to mention various community events. It all depends on where you live, in the end.
In any case, regardless of the type of event it is in real life it translates poorly into a video game. It's fine if they want to make an event based off of something like this but to make the player be a Mumor groupie where all you do is cheer on? Really?
The event wasn't exactly welcomed when it first came out. The year after people en mass were already kind of tired of it and by the third year well, it became "Really? This again? Lame SE... really, really lame and lazy."
The event is long due for a revamp. It's been done to death by now.
Keep in mind, I'd be saying something similar even if it wasn't Mumor we were talking about.
As I mentioned before, there is a lot of culture that SE can incorporate into this game as far as Summer Festivals in Japan are concerned. They don't have to fixate on Mumor only.
If anything, Mumor is easily the least tired out holiday event. She has a freaking contiguous story arc, for crying out loud! That's a lot more than I could say for something like, say, Celestial Nights, where you can't really tell whether or not it's the exact same dang people falling for each other during their performances time and again.
The fact that the Sunbreeze Festival also has several other mini-games to go with it arguably makes it the only holiday event worth keeping any more, perhaps alongside Starlight Celebration and maybe the Harvest Festival.
I still want blitz buffalo back. This new replacement we got just isn't the same. Everyone running around naked at level 1 punching an angry buffalo that can knock you from ronfaure to qufim with no effort was awesome. Herding skittish buffalo around chigoes is not awesome.
There alot of events I want bacl. I loved buffilo blitz ffxi version of the running of the bulls. Also Mumor is episode esk. each year they progress her story. Its supposed to be atypical magical girl stage show. I used to watch sailor moon daily so seeing this return yearly is fun for me. I been here since 2004 this event used to run MUCH longer. And all we had was gold fish scooping. They added the mini games after a few years. Then mumor around wings after the dance emotes got added. I also see ppl do mumor alot even a few days into it. I personally think ppl just too cynical. They want just to solo end game with/For LEET gear. Not big on social events. If anything update the fireworks and make them fancy like bomb shapes etc. FFxiv had egg shaped ones for easter.
Also ana I did mention states doing them its just lazily done. The actors used in the ones I seen make it obvious they RATHER do something else. Heck i seen japanese high school students put on better stage shows with more spirit then actors do at a semi local theme park. Its like ppl forgot what the point is. Point of mumor is to pump you up for the various mini games there are and most r fun. I like the rifle shooting. If you wanna talk of bad event. First DCUO holidays were LATE we had valantines day a week after the fact and it was 2 versions of aphrodity vs each other. ST patty day event took place around easter. And all of these were one time rewards.. Se rewards you for doing there event a few times.
SE's rewarding me for doing their event's a few times?
Really?
On what planet? This year's swimming suits are a bad reskin of last years. Would it have killed them to give us new swimming suits? Lately their rewards have been reskins of existing outfits. Yeah, some reward.
The event is old. Yes they "update" her storyline but it doesn't change the fact that I'm on the side lines instead of being in there with the action itself. I feel more compassion and connection with the Star Onions and I've done their quests years ago.
Again, let me point out that I've nothing against the magical girl types or the shows they spawn. I've grown up with stuff like Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura, much like many people on these forums.
Also, I'm sorry you've seen sloppy versions of kids shows but the ones that I've seen were not sloppy at all. So don't assume it's just lazily done just because it's stateside. Japan isn't some sort of heaven your know and their people aren't perfect. They have people who don't put full effort in to their work as well because at the end of the day the people doing those shows are just people and they can make mistakes too. They can also have a bad day or lose motivation or just plain not want to do it.
I don't care that the even itself is Mumor the Magical Girl or Mayakov the Magical Dancer who is on his quest from rags to riches as he goes on his journey to create the best dance troupe, Troupe Mayakov!
.... It's the bloody game mechanic.
You know the difference between Mumor and Prishe?
I was up there on the front lines with Prishe and since I was right up there with her, I could see her ups and downs. I could commiserate. The same is with Lilisette or Aphmau. When I thought Lion was done for, I was genuinely sad.
I was not on the side lines cheering either of them.
If they were so serious about this Mumor event then perhaps they shouldn't be so lazy about it. I'm sorry, but /cheer to Mumor is not an acceptable event even if she has a continuing storyline.
As for people doing it? Yeah, I see people doing it. Usually the first day it comes out but it's never a lot, mainly because it's a boring event. Plus, because SE is dumb they make it difficult to do events when you can't really store the event gear right after you get it. So it's not so much people wanting the "omfgwtfbbql337g34r!!!11111oneoneoneone" as it is the aforementioned reasons.
Seriously, even you can't tell me that /cheering Mumor is a good game mechanic with a straight face and anyone who does is full of it.
SE didn't put in an ounce of effort when they created Mumor. They also need to update their remaining events since they seem to approach this game with so much minimal effort- but that's not what we're talking about here.
So, tell me who is the lazy one again?
TL;DR version:
Old event is old. A continuous storyline does not equal a good event when the event itself is empty and has you going through the same motions over and over.

Ana you raging much??? Thing u need to cool ur jets a bit. Its a mini game, that happens once a year. And the mumor is a RECENT addition. Only going on 4 years. Gold fish scooping is WAY older and the yukata is re skined, starligh only had 1 upgrade and harvest fest got 2. Yet you only complain on mumor... If u gonna complain... do so for every holiday event. Also.. can't really compare a 5 part quest line with cs and link to the windy story line to a 10 min mini game...... Again overly cynical. Also most holiday events in other mmo give u 1 reward. MEANING. said event isn't repeatable for other prizes. Se on the other hand gives various rewards from holiday themed fireworks/ food to 2 versions of event gear. This game is old just fyi... ofc the events are old.. o btw for the ppl who don't do event cuz of space there is event storage npc....
O btw too add..... you just dislike the character... Cuz every event is the same every year... but u only complaint is mumor....
Haters... >_>
On the other thread the galka BLU wished people playing this game on PS2 go to hell, placed right by the bunch who make noises on movie theaters ... -_-; (Oy, I wonder what he thinks of people who spoil movie stories on Internet forums lol)
What is up with the people here ?
