The starting nations are all fine on crystal supply normally. Dude probably just took a picture yesterday and the AH in those nations are all sold out because people haven't been able to put more up due to the merger since Friday.

After Monday you should see like 200 stacks on the AH as the norm as all three nations typically had up to 50 stacks of crystals each depending on the type and where guilds are located. Whether people undercut each other to death or not with so many up for auction on the same AH is the kazillion dollar question...

Just go up to Sky and farm some every type of elemental is up there, respawns every 5 minutes.

A very good point. The starter city AHs are about to get merged with the jeuno AH, which means the posting of new items on those AHs has been disabled since friday.
