Target Select with Gamepad

Does anyone have or know of a way to select NPCs with the Gamepad besides having to toggle through PCs and NPCs? Right now I have have to use F8 on the keyboard but it would be easier to be able to do it from the gamepad. Basically I am wondering if there is a way to only select enemy NPCs with the gamepad vs having to hit F8 every time.

Some controllers come with programs to let you remap the game pad and you can choose to make one of them function as the f8.
My controller did not come with any programs so I am in the same boat as you. I made a select target macro and use that to find my target.

/target <stnpc>

Although I dislike having to give up a macro just to make selecting targets easier.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

There isn't any other way than the macro. <stpc> <stnpc> <stal> <stpt> all work to limit target selection. WIthout those, all targets are valid and none are filtered. There's also no way to filter different NPCs, you still get avatars and NPC buddies as target choices for <stnpc> when trying to use offensive magic and abilities.
