I guess if you're selfish enough to abuse your friends to get 250 marrows just for you it clearly means that you don't care about getting them any relic weapons of their own, so they won't have any Aftermath to overwrite it with. Maybe that was the point SE was trying to make? Afterglow as a consolation price for all the pour souls slaving away for the one guy with his shiny weapon.
All affirmations are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense.

Yeah, the first time I tried them on the test-server, knowing what they require, I figured the 'glow' is actually the tears of the character from all the misery and nonsense. ^^;
There is a tiny little part somewhere in me thinking it's a good idea, it's only that the fact that it requires the same item as the previous trial makes it all come crashing down, beating it to ridonkulous. It really needs to be some other item you need for it, since you are obviously 'sacrificing' a lot by either not helping a friend or few get them, use them for your other weapons, or even sell them.
I can imagine it creates grief of sorts amongst players as well, and this should not be.
Why not change it require a different item, or hell, change it to 'defeat Arch-Dynamis Lord 6666 times' or something. >.>;
Blah ! !! !
...or so the legend says.
With the cost for 99+ afterglow you can just spend the gil to get your fellow friends some relics and it will help more than the aura itself hahah.
