I was thinking about Play as a Monster today, and like everyone, I'm wondering how much support the system will get. Will it be as limited as Ballista, Pankration, or Maze Mongers, or will it be rewarding, accessible, and well-supported, like Abyssea or Dynamis?
If they added some new areas where you have to take the form of a monster, they could have it so that you get EXP, skill up and learn new weapon skills and spells, etc., as a monster. Monster areas would have enemies for players levels 1 to the level cap for Monster "Jobs." Maybe the monsters could even have different 2-hours than players, like ungimped Bad Breath for Malboros or ??? Needles for Sabotenders (equal to exactly 20% of the target's current HP (not max HP), not resistable unless the enemy is hit by multiple uses of the ability).
If the rewards were like Abyssea and the monsters were fun enough, I think this'd be pretty cool. In other words, if it's done well, I wouldn't mind a lot of effort put into this.
I'm imagining things like "we need a Malboro for this fight," or "my Goobbue just hit 200 Goobbue Melee skill and learned Double Uppercut," or "<Looking for members> Pixie."
And I'd like cool monsters, like Malboros, Bugbears, Acroliths, and Orcs. Not Saplings, Rabbits, Lizards, and Cardians. By the way, Colibris fall under cool, and Sabotender's weapon skills should be something like 100 Needles, 500 Needles, 1000 Needles, 2000 Needles, etc.
Let's pretend that balance isn't an issue, and fun is the goal. Would you all like to see the monsters as almost new jobs?
