    BSOD: Every gamers nightmare.

Hello forumgoers! .. I've recently come across several issues I've been having with my computer giving me the terrifying Blue Screen of Death.. now.. I've never had this issue before so I'm not entirely sure if its the game or not.. but I haven't had this problem up until this recent update. Hopefully someone will know how to help me out here!

The error is as follows when it restarts. (Note I am running Win7 64-bit Home Premium)

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033

Also has additional information but I'll just leave it as this for now. Hopefully I'll find a solution so I can get back in the game without worries of crashing!! - If more info is needed please let me know! Thanks!

That doesn't help with an error.

All I'll say is check your Video Card's drivers are upto date.

I have checked and updated everything if they weren't already and still seems to only give me a Blue Screen playing FFXI. I can play anything else with no problems at all throughout the day.. I load FFXI up and then the BS comes within minutes.

having the actual error code (like 0x0000007b) goes a long way towards identifying what you are dealing with....could simply be a corrupted swap file, or something else just as easily fixed.

I figured out what it was. I can run it just fine now but turns out my CPU fan is going bad. At least that can be replaced! I was thinking it was something much more than that. Thanks for responding at least ^_^

Good job on finding the culprit!

Overheating indeed is possibly one of the two most common reasons for this.
For future reference: the other is bad memory modules (or swap file, as RAIST pointed out).

It of course depends a little of the actual STOP code (could be related to USB and/or driver issue et cetera, basically anything!) and the message displayed (if any), such as IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Look for those when/if you bump into a problem like this again.

(By the by, soon 2 years without a BSOD here (possibly related to being without windoze, too, as I changed to Gentoo Linux) ha!)

    Good luck~
