Time was that every update was a nightmare, taking hours and sometimes literally days to get a patch. Eventually SE seemed to learn how to deploy patches and for a while it became routine to get a patch with barely a pause, no matter how big.

Seems we're now back in the bad old days, so far I've been trying for 15 hours and haven't managed to patch either of my PCs more than 20%, for the last 8 hours I've literally not competed a single file download.

Of course, the archaic downloader makes it hugely worse, since every time it dies on a network error IT GOES BACK TO DOWNLOAD THE PATCH INFO ALL OVER AGAIN, EVERY TIME, causing massively more network congestion!

Pathetic, this is 2012 not 2002 SE.
