There should be storage room available for us to hold every item available. Simple as.
As Frank says, it's not fun spending whatever percentage of your playing time each day shifting items between characters.

Yes please. Because a lot of the augments are just stupid waste of time to get just so that they can be stored.

And also, yes to the idea of converting the slip into KI's. This isn't like anything new. The old storage NPC store your level specific stuff using KIs (yes, I know that they're full set at a time but since these are all stored on the server, shouldn't make any difference at all).

I'll do the dev's work for them, boolean array for all possible items in the KI. Player has item stored value in the enum slot = TRUE else = FALSE.

Hey look i just compressed the memory of the slips and the inventory of the slips. Maybe the programmers should go back to school. The size of the boolean enum array is about the same size of the image for the slip!

if they sent me source code id do it for free

No, he's right. You need to learn how to manage your space better before complaining about what you feel you need. I can gaurentee I can go into your character and toss 75% of it as trash.

Whether or not you think my items are trash is irrelevant. One mans junk is another mans treasure blah blah blah.

Why are you against people getting better storage anyways? Does it somehow adversely affect your game play when the guy next to you has room to carry everything he wants to carry? Or are you worried that if people stop having to run to 3 different places to get gear, they won't get to see your super cool town gear?

Why are you even here if you don't need space? Do you think someone will go "Wow! he has amazing organizational skills. I wish I could be just like him."?

This argument crops up every time someone mentions the need for more inventory space. Invariably, someone points out that SE has provided multiple ways to improve the storage situation and then, for some reason, goes on to attack the people who suggested that inventory issues could be further improved.

Without further going into an "attack each other for sharing ideas" mode, I would say that players who use a lot of different pieces of gear for various situations AND have many jobs probably all still have inventory issues. The fact is, there are still a multitude of items that cannot be stored via porter moogle and are needed situationally. Some items could be mailed to another character, yes, but when 17 people are waiting for me to gear up a job, I don't want to make them wait for me to "brb mule."

I don't even have all jobs leveled (just over half) and I have this issue myself. Just a few examples from my own inventory:

    - Card cases / Bullet pouches / Loose bullets / Loose cards - 7 slots
    - Weapons I have retained SOLELY for the purpose of processing weaknesses in Voidwatch for one job or another - 9
    - Instruments - 11
    - Elemental staves, either buyable OR magian - 12

Can't get rid of the HQ ele staves just because I have a better Magian version for nuking/curing. Those are still needed for SMN perpetuation or BRD threnody or one thing or another.

Then there's gear that is used for a specific set, such as weapon skill versus TP, evasion versus damage dealing, cure potency gear swaps for mage jobs other than WHM, enhancing equipment for Embrava on SCH or bar-spells on WHM. My Corsair actually changes almost every single piece of equipment depending on whether I'm using Wildfire or shooting bullets for TP.

The point is, if you have a lot of jobs that you use regularly, and you strive to have proper equipment for various scenarios on each job, that leaves you with a lot of inventory clutter. It's not necessarily junk. It might only be for one macro on one job, but it's still there and you can't necessarily do anything about it.

What would really be nice, is for them to make more appropriate "All Jobs" pieces more readily available so we can still make the gear swaps for the situational moments without having to have multiple pieces to cover similar situations. For example, you have one head piece for WS that covers 5 DD jobs, but then need a second one for your remaining 2 jobs. Run that model through 5 slots, and you have a bit of a choking point. Then there are the mages---if you have 3 unique mage jobs, you have to limit yourself on specialization to avoid toting around a crap-ton of staves until you are fortunate enough to complete a magian/mythic or magian/relic staff line that might supercede the elemental paths on some jobs.

THAT's what I would really like them to seriously focus on---no more cheap sidegrade crap and job specific pieces that keeps cluttering up our inventories. Aside from making more R/E and event items storable with NPC or slips, give us some reasonably obtainable, reasonably powerful gear that covers more jobs, and we can reduce the clutter--thus eliminating (for the most part) the need for more storage options.

Technically, all that info is likely stored at the server (some may be mirrored and synched on the client periodically, but ultimately, most if not all is stored at the server)....the issue is when the items to represent them have to be loaded into memory at the client level. There is only so much room reserved on the PS2 for KI and normal items. There is only so much bandwidth they can reasonably expect to use when reconciling these items between the server and client (remember, this has to support both PS2 and Dial-Up access). Probably less about server-side optimization and more about client-side platform limitations and expected server/client bandwidth issues.
