Archades, thanks for adding to the collection. Its always good to see another Summoner out there showing that we can still do nifty things.

I'd like to report a failed solo that turned into a spectacularly easy duo. A good friend came along for moral support and he jumped in when I inevitably took a dirt nap. He was able to hold off the NM while I reraised and got back into the fight.

    Bukhis - Abyssea Vunkerl
    Avatar: Ifrit, for ice resistance.
BPs of Note: Flaming Crush and Inferno Howl
Atmas: Ducal Guard, Mounted Champion, Razed Ruins.
Notes: Bhukis is another guy that can flat out wreck a good day. He packs hefty AoE moves with a wide range of nasty, crippling effects the worst of which include stripping Cruor buffs, potent Max HP Down, and Doom. If he gets nasty, even a well prepared team can slip up and have problems.

Alas, I got caught up in no less than 3 back-to-back Apocalyptic Rays that ended my solo attempt. When my buddy jumped in it became a very standard duo, however. We finished the fight with 0 incidents. Just make sure to keep an eye on placement. Each Ifrit should be on a different facing on the NM (as in, one to the front and one behind) so that both Ifrits can't be caught by the same Doom. Likewise, you and your duo partner should be at the other two facings for the same reason.

Because of the Doom effect, you will need to re-summon often, however Ducal Guard, Mounted Champ, and hefty ice resistance make all his other moves a joke. Just make sure not to get caught in them yourself. Flaming Crush was doing anywhere from 1 - 3k damage, and the extra Enfire was doing 40ish per hit. Given how often I needed to re-summon due to Doom alone, a second run at this would probably see me taking Mounted Champion off in favor of Gnarled Horn.

A Beast Master might not make a good duo partner this time, since muliple Dooms can leave him out his Call Beast timer. A BST would make an excellent trio addition to speed up kills, however.

Hmm... Is it faster kill with Ifrit? I've always just used x2 Garuda when duoing. She seems to resist ice well enough. ^^ Used MM RR and Ducal. A neat trick, you probably already know about, if Bhukis is near you and want to not be hit with gaIV or just no time to run out of range, you can just desummon avatar and resummon and it cancels out whatever move the NM is doing. Works well when duoing anyway lol.

    Atma: Ducal Guard, Minikin, Beyond

Notes: hated this bastard. Hate control during Frenzy pollen is key. That alone will win or lose this fight, at least way i did it. now ive soloed this guy plenty of times, but dying from that damn final attack is not a win in my book. the paralyze on Frost armor will help w/ the Frenzy Pollen HF effect but the hate rest is where you need to be careful.

Let avatar hit bee before hitting an attack BP then after a good hit then run and take care of yourself.

then watch his HP, that last bit is tricky part he will frenzy pollen constantly. time you BP to kill him before he does his "final sting"

Notes: after my lessons that i learned w/ Chasmic hornet this guy wasn't a big deal. it was the other flies. i ran between the bridge and small peninsula of area by flux and he would go into river to chase after me and didnt go near them. I believe ice spikes did just as much damage to him as Heavenly stike

Thanks Mokeil for the info, I always wonder if SMN can duo it. Now that I know, I will keep that in mind and give it a try and bring a BLM to proc .

    No problem~

If you want the extra room to move around, Bukhis is also pretty easy to pull off of his little island. Just make sure Lord Varney isn't near the bridge when you spawn him, toss of a Flaming Crush to cement hate on Ifrit, and cast Sneak. You can then head off through the bats, either to the Bastion area or towards Conflux 5, which ever you'd prefer.

    Oh, that reminds me:

    Lord Varney - Abyssea Vunkerl
    Avatar: Garuda, for wind resistance.
BPs of note: Predator Claws and Whispering Wind
Atmas: Ducal Guard, Mounted Champion, Razed Ruins
Notes: Varney drops one of the KIs needed to spawn Bukhis. A really easy solo, using the same atma setup as I did on Bukhis himself. With Sneak up and you can easily get within range to use Assault without aggro from the bats surrounding him. Just make sure to be well past the bats in a safe location before using Retreat to call Garuda (and the NM) to you. Easy peasy.

Atmas-RR,MM(or if mp np, use gales), and DG

    bps-wind blade, preditor claws

fight-lead the thing into the little canyon and then run close to where the efts are, and use your bps, try your best to not do any bps while it's tp moving, or that will give it health back, I kept garuda's life up by whispering wind, and just kept at it. If you'd like to make the fight faster duo with some other summoners or beastmaster, and trio with a black mage if you want extra vision coins (especially since I needed 24), good luck and happy hunting

Sounds like a neat trick indeed, may work better when duo with real life person and not dual boxing summoner perhaps? I have to give it a try, thanks for sharing, you learn new things everyday.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Flaming_Crush Yeah 2physical one magical hit in the three hit combo. Considered physical BP. Says since it only gives 2 rounds of TP. I've always noticed it does slot on weaker mobs but NMs and stuff it kinda falls short. Outside abyssea anyway.
