I'd like to report a failed solo that turned into a spectacularly easy duo. A good friend came along for moral support and he jumped in when I inevitably took a dirt nap. He was able to hold off the NM while I reraised and got back into the fight.

    Bukhis - Abyssea Vunkerl
    Avatar: Ifrit, for ice resistance.
BPs of Note: Flaming Crush and Inferno Howl
Atmas: Ducal Guard, Mounted Champion, Razed Ruins.
Notes: Bhukis is another guy that can flat out wreck a good day. He packs hefty AoE moves with a wide range of nasty, crippling effects the worst of which include stripping Cruor buffs, potent Max HP Down, and Doom. If he gets nasty, even a well prepared team can slip up and have problems.

Alas, I got caught up in no less than 3 back-to-back Apocalyptic Rays that ended my solo attempt. When my buddy jumped in it became a very standard duo, however. We finished the fight with 0 incidents. Just make sure to keep an eye on placement. Each Ifrit should be on a different facing on the NM (as in, one to the front and one behind) so that both Ifrits can't be caught by the same Doom. Likewise, you and your duo partner should be at the other two facings for the same reason.

Because of the Doom effect, you will need to re-summon often, however Ducal Guard, Mounted Champ, and hefty ice resistance make all his other moves a joke. Just make sure not to get caught in them yourself. Flaming Crush was doing anywhere from 1 - 3k damage, and the extra Enfire was doing 40ish per hit. Given how often I needed to re-summon due to Doom alone, a second run at this would probably see me taking Mounted Champion off in favor of Gnarled Horn.

A Beast Master might not make a good duo partner this time, since muliple Dooms can leave him out his Call Beast timer. A BST would make an excellent trio addition to speed up kills, however.
Hmm... Is it faster kill with Ifrit? I've always just used x2 Garuda when duoing. She seems to resist ice well enough. ^^ Used MM RR and Ducal. A neat trick, you probably already know about, if Bhukis is near you and want to not be hit with gaIV or just no time to run out of range, you can just desummon avatar and resummon and it cancels out whatever move the NM is doing. Works well when duoing anyway lol.

Sounds like a neat trick indeed, may work better when duo with real life person and not dual boxing summoner perhaps? I have to give it a try, thanks for sharing, you learn new things everyday.

Theoretically, as the avatar of Wind, Garuda should be getting hit hard from ice element spells, but goodness knows I don't put anything past SE anymore...

If we were to set aside resistances... It would come down to the difference between Hastega's.... er, Haste, or Infermo Howl's +40ish Dmg per swing. I seem to get pretty equal damage on the two physical Rages. I'd put them at even for damage, but Garuda usually gets preference for being able to heal herself.

Have I somehow missed that Flaming Crush could crit all these years? A little light goofing off with different Atma sets seems to indicate that it does, yet I only remember hearing about Predator Claws being able to.

Well, from what I understand all avatars have natural resistance to any magic on top of their element they are strong against. Could be wrong. Maybe it's just the level difference or something. About flaming crush: I just assumed all phys BPs could crit. Part of Flaming Crush is physical and part magical if I remember correctly. Not sure how many hits are phys or magic though. I think I'd use crimson's warcry effect over the DoT of the other. Maybe other at start then crim to boost your BP damage.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Flaming_Crush Yeah 2physical one magical hit in the three hit combo. Considered physical BP. Says since it only gives 2 rounds of TP. I've always noticed it does slot on weaker mobs but NMs and stuff it kinda falls short. Outside abyssea anyway.

Throwin my latest Solo Success into mix: Turul

    Garuda
    RR/DG/MM
    whispering wind and Pclaws

Really wasn't a hard fight in my experience but defiantly need to pay attention. I just did my standard assault>rage until pet almost dead then run>release/pet dies>re-summon cycle. used Whisperin Wind to extend hp untill i had to re-summon.

Only issues i had come from long fights long fights in general. Avoid Stormwing, that's the one move that almost got me killed (bad habit on not usually carrying echos >.>), stay to side. Reaving wind is a blessing late in fight w/ its hate reset and fresh pets, so feel free to take that one if fresh pet cant grab hate later on in fight.

    Cannered Noz - Abyssea Tahrongi
    Avatar: Ramuh
BPs of note: Chaotic Strike, Shock Squall
Atmas: Ducal Guard, Minikin Monstrosity, Mounted Champion
Note: Defensive set up as this takes a while - whilst only a few Chaotic Strikes are needed to kill, the multiple reraises really draw this out. After the seventh reraise it gets the ability to cast Death - this is where I found Shock Squall to be useful. Pulled from the pop to the long valley for kiting.

    Minaruja - Grauberg A

had two methods for this guy

    pay little attention method

    Shiva
    Frost armor, Heavenly Strike
    MM,DG, and mounted champion

Keep frost armor up spam heavenly , keep a heal salve 1 handy

with paralyze from spikes and mounted champion regen avatar, you will get bored fast. take a while though. Took about 25 mins to solo this way. use Healing salve if hp get low enough and you dont want to resummon.

    Method 2 pay attention method

    Garuda
    WW and P.claws
    DG MM RR atmas

just watch hp and resummon as needed, beware silencega and blizzard breath at low avatar health (have a heal salve rdy).

Either way i prefered to be behind this guy because his size and be a bit of an issue.

    Hello,

I have been using this guide religiously to solo +2 Items, Thank you SMN'erz.
I was wondering if anyone has tried Mictlantecuhtli.

I have fought using THF/NIN facing away with regain atmas but I am severely unlucky with -Ga's.
He absorbs Physical attacks while ide and magic while casting/ability.
Not a tremendous issue, just annoying to fight with back turned.

My latest kill duoed w/ another smn.

    Lorelei

    we used garuda both

I dont remember the other smn's atma set up but i know he didn't have DG

I used my usual setup of MM RR and DG /whm, and other that watching out for the AoEs not a hard fight, She will hand you your ass if you not paying attention. Pretty simple fight for 2 smn.
