    what happened to the faster macro palette display?

    heya,

    i really loved the faster display of the macro bars... but after the update of the 18th its even slower than it was before... sometimes i can count to 3 before the bars will show up and no, my computer isnt a grandma and my connection isnt a snail...

    will this faster display be back anytime soon or will it stay like this now?

    Really? I mean I've noticed it's slower again, but only like 0.3 of a second at most.

    Anyone it broke controllers, etc I'll imagine they reversed the update until they can figure out why it did.

    I'd like to second this issue. While it does typically load fast enough I still have times where it will take a good 2 seconds to load. That can make a huge difference when your trying to do something like stun a nuke.

    I looked through the update notes since it was implemented to current and didn't see anything mentioned about reverting this change or see it in the "known issues" section. If it was reverted on purpose, why?

    Greetings!

    In a previous version update we performed a change to get rid of the macro palette display delay. However, due to an error that occurred we had to return it to its original settings prior to the update. There is a possibility that we will once again remove the delay if we are able to fix it, but at the moment we do not have any concrete plans for this. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

    That idea is fantastic and the short time it was implemented was a pure joy. Things are working as intended for the player base, and then they pull the plug because it is working. As usual, their response is basically, we don't have enough money to hire a proper coder to work on the project. Call back next time.

    I'm confused.

    You finally decided to deal with this horrible aspect of the game's UI (delays of over a second to activate the macro system are a real pain in hectic battles) get something to the test server and find a problem and had to take the change out.

    Sad, but things like that happen, which is why you put up a test server in the first place, but now you're backing out of committing to fix this 'error' at all?

    So you're content that the only people able to play the game without this huge annoyance are those prepared to use the widely-known 'illegal' third-party fix for XI's pitiful macro system?

    Should just overhaul how FFXI takes its keyboard input so you could actually multi-task with FFXI windowed. Type quickly in something like your browser's URL bar and the OS will slow down.
