pol 1155

i am online with one char i havent logged off but when i try to log on other char i cant. done isp speed tests can get to all websites no isp issues but i try to update and just getting constant error pol-1155

Steps:

tried updating over and over and cant since emergency maintenance yesterday....
did check disk nothing is working..
only reason one char is still online is i didnt log pol right offline...

Type of Internet Connection: cable 50mb

In the game folder Playonline \ FINAL FANTASY XI you will see a file called FFXiMain.dll and a file named FFXiMain.dll.tmp
I renamed FFXiMain.dll.tmp to FFXiMain.dll

did the same with FFXi.dll.tmp to FFXi.dll hit update and it all worked..... SE please try to resolve these issues for future updates and files for future members. ty

I do believe the update would have gone smoothly if you had logged off the character that was online. Quoting a post from another forum:

If FFXI.dll is in use by the pol.exe process then it can't be replaced with the new version.
