I am almost certain that what they mean by "weapon skill" revamp is not fixing the WSes themselves (would be nice tho). they've talked in the past about it but i believe it means raising weapon ranks for certain jobs, giving jobs WSes they didnt have within that category, or giving certain jobs skills they didnt have before ect ect.

RDM have sword skill and use swords when meleeing (they cant do Sanguine Blade natively) but when rdm is doin what most people expect them to they are using staves which they have no skill in whatsoever. PUP has throwing skill but they prolly have an animator equipped (at the time they may not have had many throwing weapons available to them either)
meanwhile BLU is on various Chakrams but no throwing skill. BLM has scythe skill but i am unsure if they can do any WS without war sub.

I think i recall when they did talk of it they wanted it to be even easier for lowman abyssea type situations but spreading some WSes around to other jobs as well. This was well before VW and such tho came out. so you might not need that nin/war or WAR with a pitchfork just to get raiden thrust if no one can come drg. now i know here comes all the people sayin its not that hard these days to have all red procs ect ect but this is what i believe they were talkin about when they first mentioned revamps and i have been eagerly awaiting.
